  • The Tour de France is in full swing — let's talk impact 🚴🏻♀️ The good: TdF has irrefutably increased interest in cycling significantly. More people utilizing bicycles for transport reduces GHG emissions, hands down. The down side? TdF also has a massive carbon footprint that increases alongside increased interest. While they've made attempts to mitigate their GHG emissions by adopting hybrid vehicles for their transport and publicity caravans, we expect more impactful initiatives from the sport. The great: Brands that sell bike-related gear are stepping up to take more tangible, verified climate action every year. We're proud to the six industry-leading Certified brands under the Change Climate standard. Shout out to Ornot, Peak Design, MiiR, Sunski, Outer Shell, and goodr!

🎉 We're excited to launch BEE for BIPOC — a new initiative that awards 10 BIPOC-led brands a free license to the BEE, our full scope GHG management platform. We believe access to carbon management tools should never get in the way of acting on climate change. BIPOC business owners face a disproportionate number of challenges, including a lack of access to capital, networking, mentorship, and resources. With this program, our goal is to remove the barrier to entry for BIPOC-led businesses to take climate action, whether they have an established sustainability strategy or are brand new. Nominate your favorite BIPOC-led brands for a free BEE license (or apply yourself)! 👉 https://lnkd.in/dtdsfw-Y #BIPOC #sustainability #climatechange #corporateresponsibility #corporatesustainability #carbonmanagement

  • ⭐ Volunteer Spotlight ⭐ Meet Yash Mehta - Volunteer Engineer @ TCCP! Yash is focused on building visualizations to surface data on major contributors towards carbon emissions both from a 'source' perspective, as well as an industry and brand perspective. Most recently, he worked on a project to reduce the friction in helping clients meet their reporting requirements "Change Climate made it very easy to volunteer - the team offered clear opportunities to contribute with a chance to contribute my professional skills towards an unambiguously good mission. Hearing how much fun the team is to work with also definitely contributed towards the decision to volunteer. Working with Change Climate l has definitely helped me learn new technologies that I may well be using in my future career." We've never been asked to officiate a wedding (yet), but expect that it feels a bit like the pride and excitement we feel in being a small part of a great union like this one. Congratulations to nimble and Someone Somewhere on this creative partnership! #sustainability #partnerships #business

Co-Founder & Chief Impact Officer at Someone Somewhere

From Oaxaca to the world: A couple of months ago, Ross Howe from nimble reached out to me because our companies couldn't be more aligned. We didn't just share certifications (B Corp, The Change Climate Project and EcoVadis), but more importantly, we shared a common purpose. nimble creates thoughtful tech products that people love, with a focus on impact-positive outcomes. Someone Somewhere does the same, but in the textile world. We just needed the right scenario to bring that purpose to life, and we did. Now, you can find our products in Apple stores in more than 30 countries. 🚀🍏 Today, I'm in Oaxaca celebrating with the protagonists of this story. This milestone is significant for the artisans, their families, their community, Oaxaca, Mexico, and the world. For those who don't have it yet, run to your closest Apple store, read the name of the person who made the product, scan the QR code, and leave them a message. Together, we can prove that no matter the industry, there will always be room to do good. Thanks, nimble, for doing good.✨ #socialprocurement #sustainableprocurement #partnerships #bcorp

  • Clean hair care products that prioritize the environment, support Latinx business, and actually work? That's called a triple threat. Ceremonia offers high-performance hair care that's earned Climate Neutral Certification alongside 1% for the Planet and Leaping Bunny Program. In 2023, Ceremonia ✅ Completed their Reduction Action Plan to manufacture goods closer to their consumers to reduce miles traveled by 25% ✅ Launched a post-consumer recycling program to reduce the amount of empty product containers ending up in landfill. What's next on the docket? By the end of this year, Ceremonia aims to transition 20% of air freight to ocean freight across all international finished goods and component freight shipments. 🌊 👉 Check out their full certification transparency report on their Certified Brand page, link in the comments! #sustainability #climatechange #leadership #corporatesustainability #corporatesocialresponsibility

Determining how, and how much, your company should invest in climate action can feel daunting. The short answer is that your dollar investment needs to be proportionate to the emissions you exude. Our Director of Partnerships, Greg Andeck, shares the longer answer, and the tipping point that will unlock billions in climate investments in his latest article. Out of our hundreds of brands, they are one of only 20 who have consistently earned certification every year since. To not-so-humble brag, these are just a few of their top hits: - completed EIGHT Scope 3 emissions reductions activities - invested over $40,000 in emissions contributions - eliminated 3 million pounds of plastic to-date Huge shoutout to the whole team for your dedication to tangible climate action and emissions accountability, we're so glad to have you in our certified brand community! #sustainability #corporateresponsibility #climatechange #leadership

🐠 I recently had the privilege of working with Open Water’s Director of Sustainability, Niki Mazaroli, to complete their #CarbonNeutral certification through The Change Climate Project. This process entails collecting their #GreenhouseGas emissions inventory, developing supplier engagement strategies, and establishing ambitious emissions reduction plans for the next 12 months. A pioneer sustainability leader in the beverage industry, Open Water was founded in 2014 by Jess Page and Nicole Doucet with #aluminum bottled water. Their slogan of "More Ocean, Less Plastic" is an urgent call to action, as Americans purchase 50 billion plastic water bottles a year, most of which are not recycled. Open Water is run by a remote-first, lean and mighty team, doing away with traditional office space and frills to minimize nonessential carbon footprint and focus on impact. 🔅 I am especially impressed by Open Water's low carbon packaging, using aluminum instead of plastic. #Recycling aluminum has no quality degradation (which means, endlessly repeatable) and consumes 95% less energy than virgin aluminum, achieving #GHG reduction. Their product addresses our growing concerns about #microplastic while appeals to health-conscious #GenZ consumers embracing water as preferred hydration. 🔅 Open Water’s locally sourced, decentralized distribution is another standout. Unlike traditional #CPG brands with high shipping #CarbonFootprint (scope 3.4 and 3.9), Open Water sources water locally and establishes warehouses close to consumer hubs, minimizing distance shipped. They believe "growth means shorter distance traveled" and commit to continuously iterating on lower carbon shipping and packaging. 🔅 When it comes to marketing, Open Water is all about win-win partnerships. Rather than spending millions on distracting ads, they carefully choose mission-aligned partners to connect with their consumers "when" consumers are actively shopping for sustainable products, such as vacationing or grabbing lunch on the go. Partnering with premium brands like Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts and Chipotle Mexican Grill quickly made Open Water a household name, enabling them to double their revenue every year since 2020. Open Water exemplifies embedded sustainability, disrupting traditional business practices by integrating #decarbonization with #profitability. They are setting new standards, proving that #sustainability and #growth can go hand in hand. 🌈 #CarbonAccounting #PlasticFree #CaseStudy #Circularity #OceanMonth #ClimateAction #SustainabilityConsulting Sarah Shoemaker Alysha Shivji
