Thanks to our partners at Mission Driven Finance™ for bringing Change Labs co-founder Heather Fleming and the Affiliated Tribes of NW Indians Economic Development Corp. (ATNIEDC)'s Casey Pearlman to the table in DC this week to testify to the need for culturally-relevant financial opportunities in Native communities at the US Treasury and the White House. It was an honor to join these discussions and get philanthropic stakeholders excited about opportunities on Native land. 🤎

We're gearing up for Native Nonprofit Day this Friday! These words by Carly Bad Heart Bull, JD (Flandreau Santee) Executive Director of Native Ways Federation inspire us, emphasizing the power and potential of Native-led nonprofits to be change makers within our communities. It's a stark reality that despite Native Americans and Alaskan Natives making up 2% of the U.S. population, yet receive only 0.4% of annual philanthropic grant dollars. However, the number of grants awarded has remained steady, averaging 0.5% of all grants. This Native Nonprofit Day, May 17th, let's join forces to enable these changemakers to take flight towards a brighter future. We advocate for increased support and recognition for Native organizations and causes– Please join us in this initiative! #ChangeLabs #NativeNonprofitDay #Changemakers Source: https://bit.ly/44GvelE

“There’s definitely a need in Indian Country for financial expertise,” says Delphina Begay, founder of WaterEdge Solutions and a graduate of our business incubator. 💯 Delphina is trying to fill that gap, offering critical financial services to to rural or remote small businesses with revenues less than $100,000. In our experience, finding accounting, bookkeeping, and tax prep service providers who are familiar with Navajo Nation tax systems is rare. Which is why we're excited to see a Navajo entrepreneur tackling this challenge! 🎉 Read Delphina's story on our Native #changemakers series: https://lnkd.in/g2d3rEzc #ChangeLabs #NavajoNation #FinancialEducation

Excited to share the story of one an up-and-coming Diné tech entrepreneur, #AlbertHaskie. 🤎 Albert Haskie may not have a business or computer science degree but it didn’t stop him from starting his own company, Nyzhon Studios, or creating his first mobile app, Adoone’é. The latter represents the merging of his love of the Navajo language and his passion to use technology to pass on traditional knowledge.
