Online Marketplace for Medical Device Components
About us
Giving engineers an edge to innovate faster thousands of components, equipment & tools from lots of suppliers including Johnson Matthey, Teleflex and Viant. Chamfr is a female-owned medical device component marketplace founded by 3 co-founders who saw an unmet need in the industry. Engineers needed fast access to components for early stage development but were frustrated by long lead times and lack of accessibility to medical-grade components for early stage development. At Chamfr, we are not a single company trying to push our products. Instead, we give medical device engineers access to a wide range of in-stock components and technologies for prototyping to spur the development of innovative medical devices. This allows design engineers to launch their products faster by being able to iterate without long lead times and high-cost minimum orders. With thousands of components, equipment & tools from lots of suppliers, all in stock and ready to ship, Chamfr is kind of like an Amazon for medical device components.

Heat shrink tubing is an incredible material. When heated, this tubing contracts and shrink-wraps itself around wires, joints, and connections, creating a secure, durable seal. Its biocompatibility and smooth surface after heating make it ideal for medical devices. We just added 9 new SKUs of heat shrink tubing in FEP, PET and PTFE to our Chamfr online store. Cracking pressure is crucial for check valve performance. Air Logic's check valves, available for medical device teams on Chamfr, help you balance technical trade-offs to optimize your design. #Engineering #DesignProcess #MedicalDevices
Let's talk about cracking pressure - One of the key defining characteristics of a check valve. Whether your focus is on pressure-relieving applications or trying to minimize backflow, check valves are imperative components in a variety of industries. This means it is an important part of the design process to make sure the component matches the defined specifications of the project and system. When engineers are requested to identify a proper check valve option to implement, they have to consider the technical tradeoffs of one feature over another: “In a perfect world a lot of check valves won't have any cracking pressure. As soon as there was a little bit of forward pressure the valve would be completely wide open. That's just not possible from a practical standpoint and so we have to make the tradeoffs again between that preloaded force and the cracking pressure and how good of a seal we get.”

Saturday Unboxing featuring a delivery from Sam Dong of TOMIND Medical Technology Co., Ltd. TOMIND recently launched over 40 different sizes of PET heat shrink tubing on Chamfr. The smallest size PET HST that Sam sent me is 0.010" ID x 0.0004" wall thickness. According to Sam, they can probably go around 20% smaller in size. The largest size that he sent me is 0.287" ID x 0.001” wall. PET HST tubing is ultra-thin wall thickness, which is one of the reasons it is so difficult to manufacture. PET HST is used for electrical insulation, for covering a laser cut hypotube, and it is also used to cover and terminate braid or coil wires to prevent the ends from fraying. Thanks, Sam for sending me these samples and congratulations on your partnership with Chamfr. Have a great weekend!
