Where Great Things Start Small

About us

Child & Family Resources, Inc. is a private, nonprofit, community-based organization providing services to the children and families of Southern Arizona since 1970. The mission of the agency is "Where Great Things Start Small". CFR makes a significant and lasting impact upon the lives of 38,000 people each year. Our work reflects community needs and provides high quality, accessible and affordable programs to meet those needs. We offer many programs across the state and touch thousands of families in so many different ways. Research shows ninety-percent of a child's brain develops in the first three years of life. A majority of those children spend a portion of their day in some form of child care. Excellent child care and education is critical to the health and well being of the child. CFR offers child care training and support programs to child care providers including workshops, technical assistance, and the latest research on how best to care, nurture and support the positive growth and development of young children. Investment in quality early childhood care and education saves money by increasing the likelihood that children will be literate, employed, enrolled in post secondary education, and less likely to be school dropouts, dependent on welfare or arrested for criminal activity. Our programs build resilient children and families.

  • On May 31st, all Southern AZ Superheroes, aka Family Assessment Workers and supervisors, participated in 2024 FAW/FRS Summit to join forces and strengthen their outreach skills and role-specific knowledge. Attendees had opportunity to reflect on their unique powers related to working with families and community, learn from each other and recharge inner strength to continue supporting CFR mission of building strong communities where children can reach their full potential.  Special Shout Out to Southern AZ Supervisors and PIMA FAW Team for facilitating and participating in FAW Panel! We are proud to announce staff shared positive feedback about their experience and ongoing support from their amazing SUPERVISORS!

  • Thank you GEICO  for helping to connect a family in need with the incredible National Auto Body Council (NABC) Recycled Rides program. We at Child and Family Resources nominated the Garcia family to receive a new car through the Recycled Rides Program and collectively we were able to get this family back on the road. Melyna Monroy, Family Support Specialist, with Healthy Families, nominated the family and was there with them every step of the way. Working with the family for 7 months, she believed this family deserved this aide. With the help of Cholpon Rosengren from United Way, the family received their beautiful, new car 🚙💙   Thank you, GEICO and Enterprise, for furthering to help sponsor the event and family.

  • We wanted to share some uplifting news with you all. Scott Evans from MySchoolsTucson brought in some eegee's for our staff after hearing on the news about the recent vandalism we suffered with our AC units. This generous gesture is a testament to the supportive community partners we are fortunate to have. We are incredibly grateful for Scott and MySchoolsTucson's kindness and support during this time. His thoughtfulness reminds us of the strength and solidarity within our Tucson community. Our staff is so grateful for these generous contributions from our community and reminds us of the positive connections we have built 💙
