We are hiring! We are looking for a great social communicator to join our team. This position will be responsible for strategically and operationally supporting each of CFK’s pathways through the effective use of social media outlets (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.) This role will help support CFK engagement and communication strategy to support our mission and organizational goals. Did you know we have a day each month where we invite volunteers to join us at CFK Homebase to do lots of different tasks that keep us moving forward! This month we will have volunteers inventory and sort toys and needs for this year's Merry Market. For the month of September, I am hosting a virtual fundraiser through Ballantyne Ball to raise money for new shoes that will be provided to children and teens in foster care via Congregations for Kids. Please consider making a donation so we can show these kids a lot of love!

The child welfare system is in crisis - families in our community are suffering, and the church is uniquely positioned to respond.   What are the current needs of youth in foster care? How can we, as followers of Jesus, respond in a way worthy of the calling Christ has placed on our lives? How can we connect the strengths and resources of the Church with the needs of the child welfare system? FORCLT & Congregations for Kids invite faith leaders (senior, lead, missions, and outreach pastors or ministers) in the greater Charlotte area to convene together in this forum, a network of FORCLT. We welcome those who are already engaged in this work, as well as those who have limited exposure to the child welfare system and desire to learn more. Older youth in care have been one of our main focuses from the beginning of CFK because they are at the most risk of aging out without support. The idea that these children will turn 18 and go out into this world with no one to lean on drives the idea behind our Mentor Match program. We want them to have opportunities to meet and connect with adults in fun environments with no pressure. The goal is for natural connections to form, eventually finding a mentor to match with! On average, in the greater Charlotte area, 55 youth age out of the foster care system each year. These youth are at a dramatically increased risk to experience homelessness, unemployment, mental illness, addiction, and incarceration as adults. But it doesn’t have to be this way.
