About us
he Community Foundation for Northeast Florida (www.jaxcf.org), Florida’s oldest and largest community foundation, works to stimulate philanthropy to build a better community. The Foundation helps donors invest their philanthropic gifts wisely, helps nonprofits serve the region effectively, and helps people come together to make the community a better place. Today, we're celebrating the legacy of Eartha M.M. White, who was born on this day 148 years ago. 🎂 Eartha White was an opera singer, a businesswoman, and a philanthropist who built many institutions in Jacksonville to serve the Black community. Did you know The Community Foundation is home to a philanthropic fund that carries on her legacy? It was established 20 years ago from the proceeds of the sale of the nursing home she created. 🎙️ Hear the full story on our podcast, where Wanda Willis, VP of Civic Leadership, talks with Cleve Warren and Gregory Owens, the fund advisors. ↪️ https://loom.ly/e_cx3nM

Have no fear, the endow-mints are here! We're looking forward to sharing these goodies with attendees of this week's National Philanthropy Day luncheon. They're meant to be a reminder of the power of endowments, which provide a sustainable source of revenue for local nonprofits. Thanks to the hard-working volunteers of the AFP FL First Coast Chapter for organizing this annual celebration of those who give their time, talent and treasure to make our community a better place. We're proud to be the title sponsor.

From the Jacksonville Daily Record: "To say that Delores Barr Weaver is the No. 1 philanthropist in the history of Jacksonville is not an exaggeration. Since 2012, the former co-owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars has donated more than $220 million to more than 300 organizations. She and her husband, Wayne Weaver, started giving to myriad causes as soon as they became co-owners of the Jacksonville Jaguars more than 30 years ago. Since her $50 million gift in 2012 establishing the Delores Barr Weaver Legacy Fund, she has partnered with The Community Foundation for Northeast Florida on her philanthropy through numerous multimillion-dollar gifts, including the Foundation’s largest-ever gift of $61 million in 2023." https://loom.ly/LrlbQ2Y
