Grateful for the advocacy from Center for Racial and Disability Justice. We need more disabled researcher. Honored and happy to be a disabled researcher. We also need academia to invest in our education and to collectively develop a mentoring network for disabled researchers. This system needs to be one that is collective rather than an individualistic approach. If we are to improve research then we also need to decolonize the system to advance the care for individuals with disability in education, medical, legal, and mental health care.

Disability data plays a vital role in how programs and services are delivered, how policy priorities are developed, and how research is designed. Yet, data collection methods, definitions, and metrics remain stagnant, leading to sustained barriers, neglect, and inaccessibility. A path towards disability data justice is possible. A lawsuit was filed accusing the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law of discriminating against White non-Hispanic men in their hiring practices. This case makes inaccurate claims about our Center and our founding Faculty Director, Jamelia Morgan. So naturally, we have some things to say! #DisabilityJustice, #RacialJustice, and #Intersectionality are at the core of what we do. As the work day comes to a close in Chicago, we call attention to the millions of Black women who continue to receive less compensation for equal work, earning on average 66 cents per dollar that a white, non-Hispanic male earns. As Equal Pay Today notes, "Black women continue to be underpaid, undervalued, and overrepresented in jobs that lack important workplace protections." For disabled Black women, the metrics of systematic underpayment remain ambiguous. What we do know is that equal pay is a justice issue. #BlackWomensEqualPayDay
