We hope that in addition to staying cool this summer you’ve been taking time for yourself. One of the most important ways you can do that is to REST. Easier said than done, right? Like everything that goes on in the classroom, there’s no “one size fits all.” For some, rest means getting 7-8 hours of quality sleep at night. For others, rest means setting down worries and enjoying a relaxing activity. Whatever rest looks like to you, get some. A well-rested teacher is a vibrant one! 🌟 #InspiredSummer #SummerBreak #SummerFun

Teaching and Learning Reimagined
About us
Center for Inspired Teaching is an independent nonprofit organization that invests in and supports teachers. Inspired Teaching provides transformative, improvisation-based professional learning for teachers that is 100% engaging – intellectually, emotionally, and physically. Vision: A future in which every person is prepared to thrive in and contribute to our complex and rapidly changing world, through an education that teaches students how to think, not what to think. Mission: Create radical change in the school experience — away from compliance and toward authentic engagement.

It is not our job as educators to tell children how to think, which candidates to support, and certainly not how to vote. But it is absolutely our job as educators, as Instigators of Thought, to invite our children to engage in society. This week's Hooray For Monday offers advice from Aleta Margolis for helping young people navigate this historic -- and uncertain -- moment. #Democracy #Education #Teachers

Be sure to check out the summer edition of EL Magazine, which features an article from our very own Founder and President, Aleta Margolis! The article, “Making School Worth Kids’ Time,” talks about how educators can bring school environments to life by mirroring children’s innate curiosity and imagination. I love advice columns. The perspectives shared by columnists often open my eyes to aspects of an issue I never would have considered and the insights offered in navigating challenges sometimes come in handy in my own life. One of my favorite columnists, Amy Dickinson, has recently "retired" -- though it's clear she plans to stay busy -- and the advice she offered in her final column was particularly resonant. Her "universal truths" are exactly that: mantras we can all take with us in our interactions with one another, and for teachers especially, guideposts as you consider what your classroom community can look like in the fall. #Education #Teachers #Kindness
As we settle into summer, we have a wonderful opportunity to give real thought to what we want our classroom and school community to look like in the school year ahead. This week's Hooray For Monday offers "universal truths" from one of Aleta Margolis' favorite advice columnists that serve as an inspiring start. #Education #Curiosity #Teachers

Learning is made richer and more joyful when the community is involved. We had many guests visit the Teaching with Improvisation Fellowship Institute last week and it was so wonderful to watch them jump right into our learning activities! Pictured here are Alorie (DC Arts and Humanities Education Collaborative), Lynnie (Fagus Foundation), Kristin (Rappahannock County Public Schools), and David (DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities -- a funder of the Fellowship!) ahead of joining the Fellows in a round of "Yes." It was a joy to learn alongside them and we look forward to many more opportunities to share Inspired Teaching with our community!

Improvisation strengthens creativity, listening skills, and resilience, builds community, deepens learning, and nurtures collaboration -- among many, many other things. During last week's Teaching with Improvisation Institute, our 2024-2025 Fellows discovered this for themselves -- and you can hear more about their reflections on this new approach in this week's Hooray For Monday. #Education #Teachers #ProfessionalDevelopment
Hooray for Improvisation!
