EID MUBARAK by Mahnoor Euceph is one of CAAM’s selections in the 2024 PBS Short Film Festival. Screened at CAAMFest 2023, EID MUBARAK tells the story of a privileged Iman full of confidence in her wiley schemes to save a beloved pet goat from its fate as dinner for Eid-al-Azha, a Muslim holiday about sacrifice. You may know where this story is going, but the lessons are worthy of the path. The 13th annual PBS Short Film Festival is streaming July 15-26. This year's festival highlights, Story Time as we celebrate the art of short-form storytelling.

Bringing Asian American Stories to Light
About us
The Center for Asian American Media (CAAM) is a non-profit organization dedicated to presenting stories that convey the richness and diversity of Asian American experiences to the broadest audience possible. We do this by funding, producing, distributing and exhibiting works in film, television and digital media. Educational Distribution CAAM’s catalog includes more than 250 titles, constituting the country’s largest collection of Asian American films and videos for educational distribution. Digital Media CAAM presents innovative Asian American works in new forms. Since launching the Digital and Interactive Media program in 2006, CAAM produces and showcases new media projects that educate and engage. Film Festival CAAM presents CAAMFest (formerly the San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival) every March, the nation’s largest showcase for new Asian American and Asian films, annually presenting approximately 130 works in San Francisco, Berkeley and San Jose. Media Fund CAAM provides funding and support for provocative and engaging Asian American film and media projects from independent producers. CAAM awards production and completion funds for projects intended for public television broadcast. Public Broadcast CAAM is one of five minority public broadcasting consortia designated by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) to provide programming to the Public Broadcast Service (PBS).

It’s time for Filmmaker Summer School! In case you missed the discussions at the Filmmaker Summit and Industry Panels. We’re rolling out recordings of these panels each week, beginning with the FILMING WITH FAMILY panel discussion. How did storytellers capture familial relationships across generations and geographies to craft narratives that reflected both the trauma and the love? What challenges did they face when addressing relationships that both nurtured and caused harm? Held on May 10, 2024 at the Four One Nine in San Francisco, 3 filmmakers Jude Chehab, Vicky Du, and Kenji Tsukamoto shared their courageous journeys in creating films about family, and discover how the process was both perilous and rewarding. Co-presented by Firelight Media’s Beyond Resilience Series This program was made possible with support from Firelight Media, and American Documentary WORLD. Check back each week, as we premiere more recordings through the summer.
