Our CEO, Michael Hansen, shared, “The increased satisfaction among graduates and their improved perception of education’s value are encouraging signs that educators are listening and responding to the needs of both students and employers. Our Ethos Award is an annual culture recognition that celebrates exceptional people with exceptional rewards. “The goal of this award is to drive a high-performance culture tied directly to our Ethos”, explains Andrew Theado, who manages the program. “Throughout the year, eligible employees nominate a colleague or group of colleagues for the award. Each month, a cross-functional selection committee reviews the nominations and names one Ethos Award Winner, as well as two runners-up. At the end of each fiscal year an overall winner is named and receives a company spotlight as well as a monetary reward.” This year, more than 550 Cengage Group employees voted and determined that Steve R., Maintenance Mechanic Electrician, deserved the title, ‘2024 Ethos Award Winner.’ Join us in congratulating him! Last week, we kicked off our 5th annual Virtual Iron Chef Competition, where “cheftestants” compete head-to-head in a bracket-style tournament. The first round was sponsored by Mosaic, our employee resource group for BIPOC employees and allies, where the “cheftestants” were challenged with making an assigned recipe from the “Mosaic ERG Comfort Food Recipe Book.” Recipes included cheesy shrimp and grits, Jamaican chicken soup, grilled chicken shawarma and more. Those who participated in the voting process emphasized presentation skills, creativity and execution. Congratulations to those moving onto the next round: Stuart Webster, Sarah Dawn Washkoviak, MLIS, Michelle Bammann, Michelle Ritchie, Jarmila S., Mitch Frank, Natalie Hamlin and Heather Wiegand. It’s great to see all the anticipation and excitement around this annual event from the “cheftestants”, voters and those following along on social our media. #employeeexperience #employeeengagement #workplaceculture
