    Earlier this month, members of our National Geographic Learning ELT team successfully hosted two explorer events in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The events, themed "Action for Change: The Power of Inner Drive," featured a captivating presentation by National Geographic Explorer, Rubén Salgado Escudero. He emphasized the significance of mastering English as a means to unlock opportunities for global communication and connectivity. Through his own experiences, Rubén showcased how English proficiency enabled him to engage with diverse cultures and showcase his work on an international platform. The presentation not only sparked passion and motivation among the attending students but also emphasized the pivotal role of English as a powerful tool for making a global impact.     Cengage Work’s quarterly Impact Awards honors exceptional team members and teams who have made a remarkable impact on our business, our customers and our culture. They have not only embodied the Cengage Group Ethos but have also gone above and beyond in their respective roles. Instructional Designer, Ryan Stasell, set a new standard with his engaging videos promoting Cengage Work's Learning Academy Summer School. Ryan single-handedly produced 3 pieces of promotional content that were both humorous and informative, generating excitement and interest before and during the sessions. As Steve Concotelli remarked, "I have no idea how we're going to top that for next year!" Workforce Development Manager, Elaine Cossey, has been an invaluable partner to her team, particularly in finding third-party funding opportunities. Going beyond her role, Elaine consistently supports the team by hosting weekly meetings to explore potential grants and funding options. Her efforts in facilitating course approvals and managing enrollments have not only driven results but also made a significant difference in students' lives. Described as the 'MVP' of Infosec's ecommerce project, Enterprise Architect, Shawn Eastley, played a critical role during the discovery phase. His expertise ensured that our vendor had the necessary product and systems details to design an ecommerce system that accommodates all our products within our business constraints. Shawn's adept handling of engineering, project management and stakeholder communication minimized stress during this transformative project.     Our approach to the future of work is centered around enabling the diverse ways of working that allow our teams to thrive. This varies across our organization, with some teams continuing to work fully remote and others adopting a hybrid model. Last Wednesday, our Boston, MA, and Mason, OH, offices were buzzing with activity as various teams commenced their hybrid schedule with weekly in-office days, while others were already in full swing. The Boston Connection and Mason Engagement Committees warmly welcomed our employees, organizing enjoyable activities and fostering opportunities for socialization and a sense of togetherness within the office.     According to Deloitte, U.S. manufacturing could need as many as 3.8M new employees by 2033, with a potential 1.9M of these jobs remaining unfilled. The Ready to Hire team recently announced a new partnership with SME, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, to help meet this need, building sustainable talent pipelines by providing manufacturers with access to qualified pre-screened, pre-trained talent. Our Cengage Work team partners directly with manufacturers to support workforce development. We have over 50 course titles designed specifically to upskill learners for high demand manufacturing roles! Recently, the team took part in ITMS International Manufacturing Technology Show in Chicago this week with SME, talking to a variety of employers about the coming change they see in their workforce. Becca O'Toole, Partnership Development Director, who gave a showcase presentation shared, “There is a strong desire within the manufacturing industry to disrupt the conventional staffing agency model and redirect investments towards building the skills of their future workforce with Ready to Hire!” Check out photos from the event below. #skillstraining #hiring #workforcedevelopment
