Construction is complete on one of two Upper Rose Bar Enhancement Project riffles as of this morning! After the second riffle is finished, the agitated area behind the in-stream vegetation will disappear, leaving calmer flows. Construction is slated to continue through August, so keep an eye on this feed for more Upper Rose Bar details. Construction crews adding spawning gravel to the lower Yuba River to construct one of two riffles cbec designed for SYRCL’s Upper Rose Bar Enhancement Project in Yuba County. A riffle is a relatively high area on the river bed, typically viewed as a shallow area in the river, with higher flow velocity. The riffles were designed to develop depths and velocities that will create an environment conducive to salmonid spawning. cbec Design Director Sam Diaz was on site this week for this design-build effort, providing construction monitoring to ensure designs are implemented according to plan. Additionally, we have provided topographic and geomorphic surveying, developed a hydraulic model as a part of our design process, prepared construction drawings and a design report, and assisted with bidding and construction coordination. Construction is slated to continue through August, so keep an eye on this feed for more Upper Rose Bar details. Funded by the Wildlife Conservation Board and Yuba Water Agency. Learn about our latest habitat design project on the Lower American River at the SacWaterForum's upcoming virtual information session. Our previous collaboration at the River Bend site in 2013 produced a noticeable surge in redds (underwater “nests” where salmonids lay their eggs). Join to learn about the team's planning to ensure the same tangible results in 2024. #cbecSHEP Find cbec's project page here: https://lnkd.in/gNdEZHM2
