Maguire Subaru of Ithaca recently donated blankets to the Cayuga Medical Center Foundation for patients undergoing cancer treatments. The donation is part of a partnership between Subaru and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) as part of the Subaru Loves to Care Event. Since 2016, LLS and Subaru have supported cancer patients and their families with free resources such as blankets. Blankets not only provide emotional comfort for patients undergoing treatment, but also can manage physical effects as well. Often, chemotherapy can cause side effects that make patients feel cold. The cancer care kits, provided by the CMC Foundation, will also include self-care items not covered by insurance, such as soap, moisturizer, lip balm, and lotion. We have released our 2023 Annual Report, a look back at the innovative developments and accomplishments throughout the year that allowed the health system to expand and evolve while increasing convenience and improving care. The report covers a wide variety of inventive programs that were implemented last year to improve the patient, employee, and visitor experience. These include opening Cayuga Park, a new 5-story medical office building on the waterfront; a unique new relationship with Schuyler Emergency Medical Services; and a partnership with Cayuga Addiction Recovery Services, which extends the integrated approach to care in our community. The Annual Report also highlights donor, patient and staff impacts. One poignant story tells the story behind a multi-year $1 million philanthropic commitment by Thomas Seaman to the Cayuga Cancer Center in loving memory of his wife, Jean Seaman. Another relays comprehensive, close-to-home treatment Watkins Glen-based Michael Bartone received for his non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma within the Cayuga Health System. Read at cayugahealthmagazine.org
