As the nation’s first public university, a deep commitment to public service is at the core of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Since its establishment in 1999, the Carolina Center for Public Service has been an on-campus hub for community service. CCPS maintains a strong dedication to collaborating with and highlighting the stories of partner organizations and service-oriented individuals throughout North Carolina. The center is committed to celebrating and promoting opportunities for UNC-Chapel Hill students, staff and community members to become engaged in meaningful experiences to create positive change in North Carolina and beyond. Various programs housed within CCPS provide resources and support for engaged scholarship, community partnerships, student-led service initiatives, and service-oriented faculty research. The center is home to the APPLES Service-Learning, Buckley Public Service Scholars, Community Service Scholars and Thorp Faculty Engaged Scholars programs.
