With the option to choose between two different colored facers on each board, InsulBase provides flexibility to customize adhesive flash-off times based on site conditions. The dark-colored coated glass facer (CGF) absorbs the sun’s energy, raising the surface temperature by up to 50°F to speed up adhesive flash-off—a valuable advantage in cooler temperatures. Carlisle SynTec Systems Cold-Weather Installation Tips for Smooth Winter Projects: Winter installs can be tough, but proper storage and application can make all the difference. Here are some quick tips to keep your project on track. Storage Tips: ✅ Low-VOC adhesives and primers: Store between 60°F-80°F. If exposed to freezing, warm to room temperature for 24 hours before use. ✅ Water-based adhesives: These freeze below 32°F and cannot be used afterward—keep them warm! ✅ On-site heating: A heated enclosure or hot box is key for keeping materials ready to go. Powerblanket Lite is a great solution! Application Tips: ➡ Adhesives: Let membranes relax for 30 minutes; use the “tack test” to ensure readiness. Re-apply if over-dried. ➡ PS Flashings: Warm with a heat gun to speed up application. ➡ TPO Membranes: Test welds morning and afternoon to adjust for temperature changes. ➡ FAST Adhesive: Keep above 70°F.
