Data-Driven Surgery

About us

At Caresyntax, we are dedicated to making surgery safer and smarter. Our mission is to converge AI-powered software, devices, and clinical services to help our customers improve surgical outcomes. Our platform, an enterprise-grade surgical intelligence system, is vendor-neutral and equipped with proprietary software, hardware, and advanced AI capabilities. It can ingest and analyze data throughout the surgical workflow, including EMR, video, audio, image, device data, financial and outcomes data, and clinical and operational metrics to capture a complete picture of the surgical pathway. The platform generates insights across the entire continuum of care—before the procedure with surgical workflow optimization, during surgery with real-time clinically relevant support tools, and post procedure with clinical safety modules. The platform also produces data analytics and insights for medical device companies, insurers, and other ecosystem players to innovate and drive the future of healthcare delivery. Headquartered in the US in San Francisco and internationally in Berlin, Caresyntax software is used in over 3,000 ORs globally and aids surgical teams in over 3 million procedures annually. 🌍 The World Economic Forum has been a valuable partner enabling Caresyntax’s advancing the use of AI and digital technology in surgery and healthcare. Since joining the Unicorn and Health and Healthcare Platform a few years ago, we have found new partners, customers and collaborators in the #ecosystem. Our mission to scale an AI enabled, surgical platform is congruent with the #WEFs mission, making #healthcare 🏥 and #surgery more accessible, safer and more efficient. Working with the World Economic Forum has been helpful in furthering us towards this goal. The opportunity to engage with industry leader and CEOs, government officials, and other decision-makers has provided valuable insights. WEF offers a unique platform where we can openly discuss the challenges and opportunities in #Healthcare, particularly around enabling value-based care models through #Technology and Data. Collaboration is key to innovation, and the forum has allowed us to step outside our usual ecosystem and see things from different perspectives. I highly recommend engaging with communities that challenge you to think differently and shape the future of industries. Our Founder and CEO, Dennis Kogan, envisions a future where AI isn't just a tool in the operating room, but a comprehensive platform that connects every stage of the perioperative cycle. By seamlessly integrating patient data and human expertise, we believe we can revolutionize surgical decision-making, leading to better outcomes and reducing variability in care. #surgery #AI #perioperative insight.tech

SVP, Head of Corporate Development & Payer/Provider Strategy at Caresyntax

CMS announced the official CBSAs and hospitals selected for the 2026 TEAM mandatory bundled payment model earlier this month. Is your market included? Five surgical procedures will be covered. Organizations now have a 16-month head start to understand their performance and work with their doctors/care teams to identify gaps and inefficiencies and ultimately build out optimized care pathways. As a surgical outcomes company, we at Caresyntax applaud the general direction. We also recommend hospitals heed Benjamin Franklin's wisdom: "By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail." Reach out if you want to discuss how to use these 16 months wisely!

Health | Tech | Strategy at TLGG Group

Caresyntax has just secured $180 million to develop an AI-powered 'Android for robotic surgery.' I wrote down a few thoughts 1️⃣ 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐲: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥, 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 30% of #healthcare costs are surgery-related, and the level of digitalisation is still very low. The shift toward ambulatory care is a rapidly accelerating trend that is also impacting #surgery. In the US, Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs) are growing at a rate of over 6% per year. In Germany, Hybrid DRGs are being implemented, incentivizing more than 10 common surgical procedures to be performed in an ambulatory setting. Currently, these procedures represent only 3% of the surgical volume, but if expanded, these hybrid DRGs could shift over 20% of the volume out of the hospital. 2️⃣ 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐮𝐬 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥 #MedTech incumbents, such as Stryker, rather have a closed model approach, where the "Operating Room Integration" only includes hardware and software from the same supplier (and no 3rd party solutions).  A closed model might make it easier for hospital IT, as everything comes from one hand. However, an open "best of breed" model, integrating the best solutions on the market, would bring much more value. This is the strategy that Caresyntax is following. 3️⃣ 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐦 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐎𝐑𝐈) : 𝐚 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐕𝐁𝐂 Value-based care (VBC) in surgery would involve performance-based metrics, which demand a significant amount of contextualised data. This is precisely what leading "Operating Room Integration" (#ORI) providers deliver. 4️⃣ 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐈𝐨𝐓 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐎𝐑𝐈 Caresyntax has formed a strategic distribution partnership with Relyens, the leading hospital insurer in Europe. With Caresyntax, Relyens can better manage operating room risks and has developed a new IoT-powered insurance product, available to hospitals on the condition that they install the Caresyntax platform. 5️⃣ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐠𝐚𝐦𝐞: 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐬 Despite the hype, particularly around Intuitive's Da Vinci robots, surgical #robots have yet to make a significant impact on surgery. According to many surgeons I've spoken with, surgical robots currently address less than 1% of cases, and only the simplest ones. However, this percentage could potentially rise to 80% over the next 20 to 30 years. To achieve this, a substantial amount of rich, contextualized data will be necessary to train the robots. The right technology tools must also be developed, and a new surgical ecosystem needs to emerge, built on a unified open platform. Caresyntax aims to be that platform. -------- This June, HLTH Europe hosted a dedicated session on surgery in Amsterdam titled "Silicon & Scalpels: The New Age of Surgery." If you missed it this year, be sure to attend Europe's leading HealthTech conference next year! #healthtech #ai #iot
