For the fifth consecutive year, Bank of Texas offered our employees the opportunity to direct $10,000 to a local Dallas nonprofit through our Guide the Giving program. Employees nominated fifteen nonprofit organizations, and each employee was given three votes to cast for their favorite nonprofits. The organization with the most employee votes was named our 2024 Guide the Giving winner and received a $10,000 donation. Congratulations to this year's Dallas Region Guide the Giving winner, CARE–Dallas! CARE Dallas provides a safe, confidential space to receive resources and education about substance abuse disorders. Over the past five years, over 29,000 youth and adults have participated in their awareness programs, and close to 1,000 individuals have received assistance and referral services. Collaborating with schools, civic, educational and private groups, CARE Dallas continues to extend its message of hope and recovery throughout the greater Dallas area. #GuideTheGiving #CommunitySupport

“Fentanyl is the single deadliest drug threat our nation has ever encountered. Fentanyl is everywhere. From large metropolitan areas to rural America, no community is safe from this poison. We must take every opportunity to spread the word to prevent fentanyl-related overdose death and poisonings from claiming scores of American lives every day.” - DEA Administrator Anne Milgram #JustKnow Registration is required. At the 39th Annual CARE Breakfast today, speaker Jack Sides addressed a sold-out audience of 350 guests. Jack courageously shared his personal journey of addiction and the inspiring tale of his recovery. His powerful message resonated with attendees, encouraging them to play a pivotal role in guiding those ensnared by disease and addiction 'home' toward the path of recovery and hope. The Annual CARE Breakfast is a cornerstone of our mission to address the growing concerns and challenges associated with alcohol and drug abuse within our community. We want to express our profound gratitude to our generous sponsors, whose support enables us to provide the essential resources that the Dallas community needs to confront addiction and embark on the journey to recovery. CARE stands as a beacon of hope in our community, offering educational classes for families grappling with substance use disorders, providing impactful speakers for students, parents, and educators in Dallas, and serving as a confidential and no-cost referral resource for anyone seeking assistance with alcohol or drug addiction. Each year, CARE touches the lives of over 20,000 families through its programs and services. The concept revolves around the notion that hope can sprout even from the depths of doom and gloom, from the shadows of depression and anxiety that accompanied a staggering 37-year addiction. The canvas begins with a cool, somber palette of blues and purples, both in the background and the tree trunk, symbolizing the dark side of addiction that once engulfed my being. However, as the tree's branches unfurl, a vibrant array of colors emerges, radiating with bright yellows, oranges, reds, and other lively hues, evoking a glowing sense of vitality. These brilliant leaves represent the growth and improvement experienced after embracing a life of sobriety. The painting embodies a beautiful and powerful symbol of HOPE, reflecting the journey of dragging oneself out of the suffocating darkness of addiction and basking in the illuminating light of recovery. - Charles James Fine Art

In 2017, the 33rd Annual CARE Breakfast featured renowned guests Mackenzie Phillips and Brad Lamm, CIP, who shared their personal journeys of addiction and recovery with an audience of nearly 400 attendees. Brad Lamm, the founder of the Breathe Life Healing Center in California, is a well-known speaker and author recognized for his addiction programs on Oprah and Dr. Oz. Mackenzie Phillips, acclaimed for her acting roles in "American Graffiti" and "One Day at a Time," faced her own battles with addiction, enduring decades of struggle and relapse. However, today, she lives a joyful, sober life and works as a drug and alcohol counselor, dedicated to helping others find hope and recovery. During the CARE Breakfast, Brad conducted an insightful interview with Mackenzie, exploring her personal journey of addiction and her path to recovery. Both emphasized the crucial role of community involvement in the recovery process, encouraging attendees to always "look for the yes" – a positive step towards addressing addiction and substance use disorders. The Annual CARE Breakfast supports CARE’s mission to respond to the increasing concerns and challenges associated with alcohol and drug abuse in our community. #recoveryispossible #bradlamm #mackenziephillips #onedayatatime #breathelifehealingcenter #addiction #mentalhealthawareness #caredallas #thankyousponsors
