With three steaming pots beside her, Yordanos, a 23-year-old woman in Ethiopia, chops onions while her mother prepares injera in the background. With CARE’s help, she’s transformed a roadside waste dump into a thriving food shop. “I started from nothing but made a living for myself,” she says proudly. https://ow.ly/1eMc50TwAFJ

“Happy birthday, Mr. Carter. You have made the most of a long life, serving in nearly every way imaginable as an example of moral seriousness and service to others.” Margaret Renkl’s 100th birthday message to Jimmy Carter beautifully captures this extraordinary man’s vision and lifelong devotion to justice and faith in the country we love. He is a global exemplar who embodies moral generosity and service to others. He has shown us how to be better patriots, stewards of the earth, peacebuilders, and humanitarians, standing up before many others against racial discrimination and for environmental protection. As Renkl writes: “I know that it’s possible to see our world clearly and to love it anyway.” https://ow.ly/XLo550TzUSJ

CARE, Action Against Hunger | ACF-USA, ActionAid, Mercy Corps, Concern Worldwide, World Vision, and Save the Children US are urgently calling on the international community to increase funding, ensure safe and unfettered humanitarian access for aid delivery, and ultimately find sustainable pathways to peace. Without immediate action, the hunger crisis in Haiti will continue to deepen, with devastating consequences for millions of vulnerable people. https://ow.ly/xFhx50TzmtX

In nations like Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Malawi, crops have failed, livestock and wildlife are dying, and food insecurity is placing over 20 million people at risk. Urgent and strategic actions – actions that help empower women-led organizations in particular – are necessary to address these dire challenges, save lives, and build more resilient communities capable of facing future emergencies. https://ow.ly/B4T450Tri27

With over 15,000 reported cases and 700 deaths, the the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has become the global epicenter of the #Mpox outbreak, compounding the hardships of more than six million displaced people. The Mpox outbreak is only the latest in a series of public health emergencies in DRC. The deteriorating security situation has also made it extremely difficult to provide necessary humanitarian assistance, leaving many camps underserved. https://ow.ly/59PV50TvpWM

#Lebanon: More than 100,000 were already displaced between October 2023 and September 2024 due to violence before the recent conflict escalation. People have been living in fear for weeks, at a time when the country is already experiencing a massive economic crisis, and still reeling from the Beirut Port explosion four years ago.
