Carbon Business Council reposted this
Last night at #ClimateWeekNYC, Carbonfuture, Carbon Business Council, and NextGen CDR co-hosted a fantastic dinner that brought together corporate sustainability leaders, policymakers, and innovators to address one of the biggest challenges of our time—achieving net-zero. 🔍 The challenge: To reach net-zero, we need deep emissions cuts and carbon removal at scale—and we need to act now on both. 🌱 The focus: How corporate leadership, government policy, and innovation can drive the scaling of carbon removal. With a full room of corporate leaders, including representatives from Mitsubishi Corporation, J.P. Morgan, Citi, AIG, Prudential Financial, Liberty Mutual Insurance, BMO, Aflac, and MetLife, the energy was incredible. Guests arrived early and stayed late—something rare during Climate Week NYC. Anthony Lydgate from WIRED guided the conversation, featuring an outstanding lineup of speakers who shared actionable insights under Chatham House rules. We are deeply grateful to our incredible speakers: ♦ Vanessa Z Chan, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) ♦ Randy Spock, Google ♦ Karan Mistry, PhD, Boston Consulting Group (BCG) ♦ Louis Mark, Autodesk ♦ Noah Deich, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) ♦ Rebecca Kershaw, High-Level Climate Champions ♦ Greg Stangl, Phoenix Energy Key takeaway: Achieving net-zero will require bold leadership, innovative policymaking, and rapid scaling of carbon removal solutions. Highlights: 🔹 Cross-sector collaboration is key for scaling carbon removal. We need a private-sector-led, government-enabled ecosystem to make it happen. 🔹 Corporate leadership is essential, with more companies investing and a broader effort beyond the usual CDR buyers. 🔹 Innovation is there—solutions like digital MRV de-risk carbon removal purchases for buyers, and technologies like biochar not only remove carbon but create jobs, generate energy, and positively impact communities. Thank you to all our co-hosts, speakers, and guests! #NetZero #CarbonRemoval #CDR #CorporateLeadership #Sustainability CC Leila Toplic, Dominic Lüdin, Craig Stokes, Brian Kemerling, Michael Railey, Megan Kemp, Ben Rubin, Isabella Corpora Brian E Kurtz
