Our agency is led by some incredibly talented individuals dedicated to improving the lives of others. We're proud to share that our President & CEO Dottie Watkins was nominated by Austin Business Journal for its prestigious Women in Business Awards. CapMetro's CFO Catherine Walker was also nominated by ABJ for Best CFO of 2024. Dottie is a proven leader with an unwavering commitment to invest in people. She not only makes it a priority to engage with internal staff, but also to invest in mentorships outside the agency, with a large part of that being the work that she does as a Board Member for Dress for Success Austin. Her nomination focused on those internal and external commitments. CapMetro recently underwent a new fare program, including the new AMP card, and Catherine's recent leadership to bring that over the finish line was part of what stood out in her nomination, as well as her commitment to continue improving the customer experience. Congrats to the other local women leaders and professionals who received the same recognition. We are honored and certainly in good company. Students from the Occupational Therapy Assistant program at Austin Community College recently visited our Eligibility and Mobility Training Center. During their tour, they received a presentation on our MetroAccess and Travel Training services. The students were enthusiastic about learning how the knowledge and skills gained through their program could contribute to public transportation- assisting individuals with disabilities and seniors access their community through public transportation. With every person in need, the CIS team follow a process that is designed to ensure effective and respectful support. When the intervention specialists first meet someone, either from a referral or by patrolling the system, they get to know them to understand their needs. From there, they’ll begin a specialized process based on what the individual needs, which may involve other community partners, like the City of Austin Downtown Austin Community Court (DACC). “The main partnership we have with them is using their address for mail, which is… a huge barrier for a lot of our clients for getting through the whole process of any kind of services,” said Holly Winge. Our CIS team also partners with the DACC for cases that our team can’t fulfill, or that helps persons with misdemeanors navigate the municipal court to address the charges if they qualify. We are investing in our most valuable asset: our people. We've developed a peer-to-peer mentorship program with ATU (The Amalgamated Transit Union), Keolis Transit America, Inc, and MTM Transit. The Fixed Route program helps new hires navigate their first months at CapMetro. Mentors build relationships of trust and growth to foster professional and personal development. #CapMetro #TransitInnovation #EmpowerEmployees #Mentorship
