"Independence Day, the day that 13 colonies said enough and the day that our forefathers officially declared we would no longer be subjected to an oppressive monarchy on distant shores. Independence Day is a day of frivolity, of hot dogs, of celebration, of family and fireworks and also a day that has been paid for with the lives of patriots defending and preserving that right to be free of oppression. It is also a day of remembering beach landings; and a time to remember nights of recon patrols behind enemy lines and desperately calling for medevacs; and waiting to hear the pounding of the helicopter’s rotors. Independence Day, we now call “The Fourth of July”, is a day for celebration and somber reflection and it should also be a day of fun at the beach or picnics with friends and family. It is fireworks and speeches and photo ops for politicians and it is a day to pause in the celebrations and reflect on those who paid for this right, the right to freely assemble and celebrate the Fourth of July, the day that The Second Continental Congress officially ratified our Declaration of Independence." - Douglas Hatch #IndependenceDay #FourthOfJuly #Patriotism #Freedom #DeclarationOfIndependence #AmericanHistory #CelebrateFreedom #HonoringHeroes #FamilyFun #Fireworks #RememberingSacrifice #FoundingFathers #USA #History #Patriots #July4th #AmericanSpirit #Liberty #FreedomFighters #BeachDay #Picnic #FamilyTime #AmericanRevolution #USHistory #Heroes

Volunteer Spotlight: Angie Georgopoulou Angie started volunteering at Canyon in January 2024, dedicating her time to the Memory Care Unit. Her favorite part of volunteering is the impact she has on her sweet friends, seeing them light up and eagerly share their days with her. Initially motivated by her nursing school requirements, Angie’s desire to volunteer deepened as she experienced the profound need for friendship and care among the residents. She now volunteers to show them that someone truly cares and that they matter. Through her volunteering, Angie has learned that everyone needs a friend to talk to, a simple yet often overlooked need. This lesson has been particularly valuable, as it highlights the importance of companionship, especially for those who feel alone. Angie advises new volunteers to be patient, understanding that volunteering has its ups and downs. Patience and consistent presence can make a significant difference, not only for the residents but also for the volunteers themselves. A fun fact about Angie is that she was born and raised in Greece and moved to St. George, Utah, during her freshman year of high school, where she has loved living ever since. #VolunteerSpotlight #MemoryCare #MakingADifference #VolunteerLife #CommunityCare #CompanionshipMatters #NursingStudent #UtahVolunteers #FriendshipAndCare #CaringForOthers #VolunteerAdvice #GreekAmerican #StGeorgeUT #GivingBack #VolunteeringJourney #PatienceAndCompassion

We are delighted to announce Kym Schwendiman as our June Employee of the Month at Canyon's St. George branch. Kym has been a vital part of our team since February 2016, when she joined us thanks to her dear friend and mentor, Shawna Lovejoy. Shawna introduced Kym to the St. George branch during its early days, and what began as a part-time position quickly evolved into a full-time role where Kym has made a profound impact. As a Clinical Chaplain and Bereavement Coordinator, Kym’s passion for hospice care shines through in her daily work. She finds great fulfillment in providing comfort and support to patients and their families during some of life’s most challenging times. Her role allows her to focus on her faith, offering spiritual guidance and solace. Kym especially enjoys working with the elderly, who hold a special place in her heart. Outside of work, Kym enjoys a variety of activities that help her relax and recharge. She loves reading, listening to audiobooks, playing board games with her daughter, soaking up the sun, and taking long walks. She also cherishes time spent with her family, whether through FaceTime or in-person visits. An interesting fact about Kym is that she once water-skied on the Sea of Galilee, a testament to her adventurous spirit and deep connection to her faith. If she could choose one meal to eat for the rest of her life, it would include her favorite treats: cheese, chocolate, and Diet Coke. Kym’s dedication, compassion, and faith make her an invaluable member of the Canyon team. Congratulations, Kym, on this well-deserved recognition! #canyonhomecareandhospice #employeeofthemonth #recognition #stgeorge #utah #congratulations #clinicalchaplainandbereavementcoordinator

Sometimes Marketers have all the fun! What do you get when you mix a top pharmacy and compassionate home care and hospice company at a golf tournament? Shenanigans! Redrock Pharmacy and Canyon Home Care & Hospice in Ogden, UT teamed up to sponsor the 10th hole at Wolf Creek Resort in Eden, UT for the Golf Tournament. The weather was perfect, as was the company of the people there. Meeting new friends and getting re-acquainted with past ones. We had a competition to see who could eat Fruit Roll-Ups the fastest with no hands, and some refreshing ice-cold lemonade to keep them hydrated as they played on! #wolfcreekresort #canyonhomecareandhospice #redrockpharmacy #golf #marketers #fun #utah #colorado #idaho #arizona #cutloose #18holes #workhardplayhard
