About us

We are a multi-disciplinary research facility under the University at Buffalo's Department of Neurosurgery which joins together researchers and their students from a variety of departments such as Medical Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering and others. We perform our own grant-funded research projects as well as collaborating with industry leaders and other researchers in academia from across the globe. In 2020, we also expanded our capabilities into GLP compliant studies. We were created as a result of a collaboration between Dr. L.N. Hopkins with the Toshiba Corporation and continue to receive significant support from what is now Canon Medical Systems. Our Goals: - Develop innovative imaging and analysis techniques as well as minimally invasive endovascular approaches to diagnose and treat vascular abnormalities, particularly those that lead to stroke or aneurysms. - Advance knowledge regarding the underlying flow of dynamics that promote vascular disease and affect therapeutic outcomes. - Promote an international exchange of research, education, business information, and personnel through joint ventures. - Demonstrate the benefits of collaborative ventures between industry and academic institutions. - Establish Western New York as a pre-eminent international center for stroke research, education, and clinical practice.
