CalOptima Health is pleased to announce $5 million in funding for the second round of its five-year, $50 million Provider Workforce Development Initiative. The grant funding will be available for programs and partnerships that train, retain and develop health professionals (non-physician primary care, behavioral health and allied health) in Orange County to serve Medi-Cal members. Orange County health systems, health care provider organizations and community organizations are eligible to apply for a grant award of up to $1 million per organization. The family resource center has been around for 100 years providing stability, opportunity and hope to children and families in poverty. In preparation for CalOptima Health’s Street Medicine program expansion to the City of Costa Mesa in August, CalOptima Health is leading a Street Medicine Steering Committee with City of Costa Mesa, Celebrating Life Community Health Center, UCI Health, Orange County Health Care Agency, Mercy House Living Centers and City of Costa Mesa Fire & Rescue to discuss program operations and services. The Steering Committee is a partnership-driven, collaborative effort to support the most effective and sustainable outcomes for our members experiencing homelessness on the street. The Street Medicine program will provide medical and social services to people experiencing homelessness in Costa Mesa starting August 12.
