Congratulations to Dr. Jon Klingborg, 2024 recipient of the Dr. George Bishop Lifetime Achievement Award, the highest honor bestowed by the CVMA! Dr. Klingborg is recognized for his longstanding devotion to organized veterinary medicine, including the creation during his presidency of the CVMA’s Eight Principles of Animal Welfare, Care, and Use in 2004. It is our honor to welcome Dr. Jennifer Hawkins as the CVMA’s 2024-2025 President! Dr. Hawkins currently serves as the Executive Director of the SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA VETERINARY MEDICAL ASSOCIATION (SCVMA), where she has been involved for over 15 years. Throughout her career, Dr. Hawkins has pursued both private practice and shelter work, and she still performs spay/neuters for her local animal shelter. She became the CVMA’s House of Delegates Chair in 2016. During her presidency, Dr. Hawkins aims to focus on access to care and legislative advocacy. July is Disability Pride Month, a time to raise awareness of the achievements, experiences, and struggles of the disability community. Kathy Van Booven, the CVMA's long-time Director of Finance, is leaving the CVMA to become the new accountant at Veterinary Insurance Services Company (VISC), the CVMA's wholly owned insurance brokerage. Kathy started at the CVMA in 2000 as the finance coordinator and became the Director of Finance in 2006. We are grateful for Kathy's quarter-century of service to the CVMA and wish her the best in her new role at VISC!
