Hydrogen Means Business in California
About us
Vision Statement To bring a deeper understanding of the use of hydrogen in energy and transportation to a variety of market segments, the California Hydrogen Business Council facilitates meetings, networking, and solutions. Our members are poised to directly implement the technology and service solutions necessary to make the hydrogen economy an environmental and commercial success. Vision of a Hydrogen Economy Hydrogen offers the promise of a safe, sustainable energy supply that can be produced domestically. Using hydrogen in transportation and stationary power applications will reduce dependence on foreign oil and positively impact U.S. balance of trade. When hydrogen is produced from renewable sources and used in a fuel cell to create electric power, it does not contribute to global warming. When reformed and used in internal combustion engines, it greatly reduces carbon, nitrous oxides (NOx), and other harmful greenhouse gas emissions. Each year, 500 billion cubic meters of hydrogen are produced. Its use is growing rapidly. CHBC Makes the Vision a Reality The California Hydrogen Business Council actively supports hydrogen's growing commercial use, new applications, and the transition of our energy infrastructure. The CHBC is rallying financial, insurance, and regulatory organizations to support businesses that provide hydrogen products and services.

🚨 California officially launches the first #HydrogenHub in the U.S.! With a $12.6 billion agreement signed with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), this initiative aims to cut fossil fuel use and #decarbonize public transportation, #heavyduty trucking, and #port operations by 2 million tons annually—equivalent to the emissions of 445,000 gasoline-fueled cars. 🌱💡 Key Benefits: ➡️ 220,000 new jobs ➡️ $2.95 billion annually in economic value ➡️ 40% of project benefits to disadvantaged communities California Governor Gavin Newsom says “California is revolutionizing how a major world economy can clean up its biggest industries. We’re going to use clean, renewable hydrogen to power our ports and public transportation – getting people and goods where they need to go, just without the local air pollution. Thanks to the Biden-Harris Administration, California is excited to pioneer this world-leading initiative that’ll show other states and countries what’s possible when you prioritize clean energy and public health.” The California Hydrogen Business Council, our members, and affiliates congratulate the State of California and ARCHES H2 on this historic achievement. We will continue to support the Hub and the broader #hydrogen industry. Read Governor Newsom’s Press Release: https://lnkd.in/eWgxnJms #CaliforniaHydrogen

🌊 The world’s first #hydrogen powered commercial passenger ferry, the MV Sea Change, will soon set sail in California’s San Francisco Bay! 🌊 Starting July 19, the 70-foot boat will begin to transport up to 75 passengers between Pier 41 and the downtown San Francisco ferry terminal. This groundbreaking initiative marks a significant step forward in #decarbonization and phasing out diesel-powered vessels. Jim Wunderman, Chair of the San Francisco Bay Ferry Board of Directors highlighted the potential impact: “Providing access to this world-first technology for the thousands of future Sea Change passengers is a key step toward protecting the environment. We have worked hard alongside our partners to make this groundbreaking ferry a reality, but it will be the passengers who bring it to life”. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eMJ-by_4 #FuelCell #maritime
