We had a wonderful time learning more about the biking, pedestrian, and transit infrastructure of San Francisco in these tours! Thank you Kimberly E. Leung, P.E., T.E. for organizing this tour, and all the tour leaders for sharing your knowledge with us!Special thanks to ITE Western District for funding part of this event, with the Connections Grant.
Acting Livable Streets Director at San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency | ITE Western District International Director-Elect
We had the pleasure of hosting Cal Institute of Transportation Engineers, UC Davis ITE, and UC Berkeley’s Transportation Graduate Students Organizing Commitee (TRANSOC) at the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) today! Over 30 students joined us to learn more about our work through Transportation Management Center tours, bike tours (which even included a ride down the Valencia center-running bikeway pilot), and Slow Streets walking tours (focused on one of our first Slow Streets: Page Street). Thank you to Liana Tran for collaborating with me to make this event happen, and this wouldn’t have been possible without Tony S. Henderson, PE, PTOE, Adrian Leung, Christy Osorio, Leo Masic, Alejo Alvarado, Shannon Hake, and Jacob Henke for leading the tours and sharing their expertise. I hope all the students enjoyed learning and experiencing San Francisco’s transportation infrastructure firsthand while also making valuable connections with other ITE chapters and the SFMTA, and I can’t wait to do this again with more ITE Western District student chapters soon!
