Strategic partnerships are crucial for scaling up green methanol and other renewable fuels for global decarbonization.🤝🌱 Today C2X LLC and SunGas Renewables announced a strategic partnership and an investment by C2X in SunGas. Together, SunGas and C2X aim to develop, own, and operate multiple green methanol production facilities in North America to increase the supply of sustainable fuels and advance global decarbonization of hard to abate industries. SunGas, a spin-out of GTI Energy, is a leader in providing proven process technology and equipment for enabling the production of renewable fuels. “SunGas’ leading biomass gasification technology platform and their highly capable team offers the fastest and lowest cost way to scale up the supply of green methanol that is so urgently needed to enable the marine, aviation, and chemicals sectors to reduce their fossil carbon emissions. Furthermore, we hope that our investment will also enable SunGas to advance the sale of their technology to other customers looking to produce renewable molecules for hard-to-abate industries,” says Brian Davis, CEO at C2X. 👉 Read more at https://lnkd.in/d-4gYHCM #GreenTransition #Decarbonization #RenewableFuture #GreenEnergy

🚢Many barriers are still standing in the way of green fuels investments from the shipping industry.🍀 Drawing on insights from 20 leading stakeholders across the shipping value chain – including C2X - this latest report from the World Economic Forum and the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), prepared for the First Movers Coalition (FMC) highlights 10 key barriers limiting green fuel projects from going past final investment decision today. Some of these key barriers are lack of clear demand signals with sufficient willingness to pay to cover the green premium as well as the expectations gap between fuel producers and carriers on the length, volume, and price of offtake agreements. “We need the proactive support of governments around the world to close the cost gap through supply-side and demand-side actions. First, by providing incentives that lower the cost of green fuel production, this will promote the rapid scaling-up of these new technologies. And second, by creating a strong and visible demand-pull through mandates and clear carbon-pricing signals. Together this can kick-start the industry to drive faster scale-up and better climate outcomes,” C2X CEO Brian Davis says in the report. 👉 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eSKrUTcS #Decarbonization #ZeroEmissionShipping #FirstMoversCoalition #ClimateAction #FinalInvestmentDecision #COP28 #C2X

C2X was very pleased to join the Spain-Denmark Business Summit in Copenhagen – a part of the Spanish royal visit. His Majesty King Felipe VI and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Frederik both pointed to the green transition as an area where Denmark and Spain can continue and strengthen the long history of business collaboration between the countries. C2X is working in Spain to develop a large-scale green methanol production to cater for the need for green fuels from the shipping industry as well as demand from the chemicals sector, managing director for C2X in Spain, Diego Perdones, said in a panel highlighting the importance of investing in Power-to-X. Power-to-X can become an essential part of the energy systems in both Spain and Denmark. However, it requires huge investments in green energy production and the corresponding infrastructure to connect new sustainable energy installations to the public grid. Thank you to ICEX for organizing and bringing the countries together on this important agenda. #ptx #greenhydrogen #Decarbonization #Sustainability #EnergyTransition

C2X has taken an important step towards a large-scale green methanol production facility in the Port of Huelva in Southern Spain. A successful first phase to secure the concession for a 47ha large site production has been concluded.   Securing suitable land is key in the continuing work on the ambition to become a leading large-scale methanol producer in Spain. This pioneering work cannot be done without strong collaboration between public and private sector.   “We are very grateful for the strong support for our project from the central and regional administrations in Spain and from the Port and the City of Huelva,” says Diego Perdones, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer of C2X and Managing Director for C2X in Spain.   C2X is looking forward to continuing the cooperation in the next steps of the project 🌱   👉 Read more here: https://c2x.com/news/   #C2X #APMollerHolding #Maersk #Logistics #GreenFuels #Decarbonisation #Sustainability #Shipping

Today C2X and the Egyptian Government took the next step towards a large-scale green methanol production in Egypt. Our CEO Brian Davis, signed a comprehensive Framework Agreement with our Egyptian sponsors and partners in the presence of the Egyptian Prime Minister. Our mutual goal is to accelerate large scale production of green methanol in Egypt. “Signing of the Framework Agreement today marks another important milestone in realizing our ambition to be a leading producer of green methanol. Egypt has many natural advantages that support a world class green methanol project including access to low-cost renewables and proximity to the Suez Canal and maritime customers. We thank the Government of Egypt and our Egyptian Sponsors for their continued support,” said Brian Davis. Securing enough green methanol is the major challenge on the way to achieve the green transition of the entire shipping industry 🚢 👉 Read more here: https://www.c2x.com/news/ #C2X #APMollerHolding #Maersk #Logistics #GreenFuels #Decarbonisation #Sustainability #Shipping

We are proud to announce the launch of C2X, an independent company aimed to build, own, and operate assets to produce green methanol at scale. C2X joins the A.P. Moller Group along other green energy frontrunners like Innargi and ZeroNorth and plans to have a production capacity of more than three million tonnes per annum by 2030. Methanol is one of the most traded chemical commodities globally and is a fundamental building block in many everyday products including plastics, glues, textiles, and other applications. However, the methanol used today is almost exclusively made from fossil fuel sources, with natural gas and coal being the most common feedstocks. This can be directly replaced by new supplies of green methanol made from e-methanol, based on renewable energy, or bio methanol from agricultural and forestry crops and waste. Furthermore, based on new engine technology, green methanol can also be used as fuel to reduce fossil emissions in hard-to-abate industries such as long-distance shipping. “There is a pressing environmental requirement to scale the production of green methanol. C2X was founded to enable the energy transition in several hard to abate industries, including plastics, glues, textiles, and fuels. I am delighted to see the talented team, who has joined C2X, and the strong interest from partners and prospective customers to support the venture’s important purpose and development,” says Robert Maersk Uggla, CEO of A.P. Moller Holding.   Read the full press release: https://c2xglobal.com/ #C2X #apmoller #nyttigvirksomhed #ownerswithapurpose

C2X is a newly founded, independent company aiming to build large-scale green methanol production at scale for multiple industries. C2X is majority owned by A.P. Moller Holding with A.P. Moller-Maersk as a 20% shareholder providing a solid foundation for the company. “We’ve already moved well past ‘the chicken or the egg?’ discussion on green fuels and green vessels – now it’s a supply challenge that is growing at an exponential rate. Less than two years ago there was only one methanol-capable container vessel on order, today there are more than 120 methanol-capable vessels on order (including retrofits) from five major container carriers. Innovative companies like C2X are going to play an incredibly important role in ramping up green fuel production in the coming years - at pace and at scale. It is great to see A.P. Moller Holding and Maersk making such meaningful investments,” said Morten Bo Christiansen, Head of Energy Transition at Maersk. “There is a pressing environmental requirement to scale the production of green methanol. C2X was founded to enable the energy transition in several hard to abate industries, including plastics, glues, textiles, and fuels. I am delighted to see the talented team who have joined C2X, and the strong interest from partners and prospective customers to support the venture’s important purpose and development,” says Robert Maersk Uggla, CEO of A.P.
