And yet, only about half of those who need treatment actually receive it. For this episode of Side of Design, a roundtable of the firm’s behavioral and mental health designers discuss how design can play a role in combatting the crisis. https://loom.ly/MPyUVwk

Nearly 10 years after the completion of the BWBR-designed Inpatient Mental Health Center tower, Regions and BWBR partnered again to design a buildout of an unfinished floor. Many of the patients in this secure 20-bed unit are in transition from the hospital’s emergency areas to outpatient treatment or a residential program. In both the buildout and greater tower projects, patients, staff, and family members are welcomed with warm nature-inspired colors, abundant artwork, and plenty of natural daylight. https://loom.ly/d_aL6Tk

Last night, we had the privilege of attending the Finance & Commerce Top Projects event. Congratulations to Crown College for their new Residence Hall being named one of Finance & Commerce’s Top Project Honorees for 2023! LS Black is proud of our partnership with BWBR on this successful project. Top Projects is the premier recognition program for Minnesota’s built environment, honoring the best building and construction projects in the state. Through our ‘Partner-First’ Approach and using the design-build delivery method, Crown College can now provide incoming freshmen the sense of community they desire with modern, pod style living. The pod style design makes students feel more at home and sets them up to thrive during their first year of college. Congratulations to all involved, especially our project team for their instrumental role in making this project a success!

Expanding upon the work of Hennepin Healthcare's Mother-Baby Program, Minnesota’s first intensive mental health program for pregnant and postpartum mothers, the Readleaf Center for Family Healing brings together a variety of outpatient programs and mental health therapy for all family members. With design evoking feelings of stability, safety, and belonging, the new program space allows for expanded services, furthering Redleaf's mission to support parents in developing skills to provide the consistent and nurturing care all children need to thrive. https://loom.ly/zr1YDvo
