The Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity charter is based on Gov. Cox's commitment to economic opportunity statewide. The mandate for this office is to provide rich business resources for the creation, growth, and recruitment of companies to Utah and increase tourism and film production in the state. The Go Utah office accomplishes this mission by administering programs based around industries or "economic clusters" that demonstrate the best potential for development. The office utilizes state resources and private sector contracts to fulfill its mission.

The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) approved Utah’s award to implement its Digital Equity Plans. This funding is part of the national “Internet for All” initiative.
