  • Thank you to Hailey Allen for two years of service with Business Publications Corporation, Inc! After her recent promotion to Associate Editor, she’ll be responsible for our specialty publications of dsm magazine like Lifting the Veil and Inclusion. But before that, we can thank Hailey for writing and editing some of our best issues of dsm magazine. She’s especially proud of stories like “Wellness Wonderland,” our cover story from last year’s September/October issue, where she delved deep into the magic of Inner Space, the holistic hot spot on Keo Way. “I’d never written that way before for dsm magazine,” Hailey said. “It wasn’t even meant to be a feature, but it really just flowed out of me.” We’re so grateful to have Hailey on our team and can’t wait to see what she does in her new position. Read “Wellness Wonderland” in the link below, and then drop a comment to join us in applauding Hailey! https://lnkd.in/gEbP2MJM #dsmusa #desmoinesiowa #happyanniversary

  • We’d like to share our heartfelt gratitude to Alexis J. Davis, who marked her second anniversary at BPC in January. Alexis embodies a genuine commitment to Des Moines, and uses her creativity, organizational prowess and innovative thinking to strengthen our organization each day. "It energizes me to think differently about how we can appeal to clients with new opportunities in storytelling, whether that’s in custom publishing or advertising,” Alexis said. We’re especially grateful for her commitment to bridging gaps in the community. "Joining our DEI committee was important to me,” Alexis said. “It was great to bring in my advocacy work with organizations like United Way and give back to the community." Alexis is integral to our mission of celebrating communities, and we invite you to join us in expressing gratitude for her outstanding contributions. Now is the time to celebrate Alexis — thank you!

  • In January, we celebrated the first anniversary of our dsm editor Michael Morain (who also celebrated his birthday yesterday)! You may recognize him from his bylines in dsm publications, or as our lively presenter at unveiling events. Although he only joined us one year ago, we can't imagine the magazine without him.   “It’s been fun to shape the stories through the whole process, from the initial idea right on through publication. Sometimes when we see the first drafts or fully designed layouts, it’s like opening up presents on Christmas morning,” he said.   We’re so grateful to have Michael as part of our team. Join us in congratulating him on his anniversary, and wishing him a happy birthday!

  • Today, we want to express our gratitude to Lori Bratrud for her dedicated 25 years of service at Business Publications Corporation, Inc! She fondly recalls joining the company in 1999, a time when the sales team operated with just 3 computers, relied on fax for communication, and drove across town for every ad adjustment. "Computers have saved us a lot of time," she jokes, adding, "Even though technology isn't my best friend." Since then, Lori has achieved significant milestones – she was the first BPC team member to sell sponsorships to 40 Under 40 and Women of Influence. Reflecting on her legacy with us, Lori emphasizes that her most significant accomplishment is the relationships she has built. "Many of my clients have become friends, and I've worked with a lot of them since day one," she shares. "I've been with Des Moines Business Record for 25 years because I love our products, cherish my clients, value my coworkers, and believe in what our company does for the business community." Let's join together in recognizing Lori for her incredible 25-year journey! #dsmusa #salesleadership #desmoinesiowa #desmoines

“What is one way you plan to be fearless as a leader in 2024?” BPC CEO Suzanna de Baca posed that question to top local leaders for Business Record's FEARLESS this week -- check out their inspiring answers.

CEO, Board Director, Author. I write about leadership and organizational transformation, culture and governance.

I asked some top local leaders how they plan to be more fearless in 2024 and was very inspired by their answers. Here is what Jenna Knox, foundation director, Mission Cancer Blood, had to say: "Focus my energy on action. A fearless leader gets things done and delivers outcomes. As a woman who wears many hats, it is easy for me to become overwhelmed with a never-ending to-do list, or to feel like I am not meeting all the expectations. My goal for 2024 is to push past self-doubt or analysis paralysis and ground myself in a commitment to act. Simple, often-small actions, such as adding my thoughts to a conversation, starting a project I’ve been meaning to tackle, or showing up for a cause I care about, will culminate into meaningful impact." I love Jenna's goal! How will you focus YOUR energy on action in 2024? You can read the whole "Leading Fearlessly" column in Des Moines Business Record's FEARLESS publication at this link: https://bit.ly/3O1jpzi. I'll be sharing advice from other leaders in this column including Deidre DeJear and Kate Banasiak. Check out previous comments from Katherine Harrington and Dana James. #Fearless #CEO #Culture #womenleaders #leaders #inclusiveculture #transformationalleadership
