Business for Nature is a global coalition of more than 90 influential partner organizations as well as forward-thinking companies. Together, we drive credible business action and policy ambition to achieve a nature-positive economy for all by 2030. More than 1,400 businesses with revenues of more than $5 trillion have signed our Call to Action ‘Nature is Everyone’s Business’ recognizing that healthy societies, resilient economies and thriving businesses rely on nature. Our current priorities are to: 🌎 Provide the courage, comfort and technical expertise to governments so that they adopt, implement and enforce ambitious policies that help create a nature positive economy by 2030 🌎 Scale and speed up business action by strengthening, clarifying and amplifying why and how companies should act now to contribute to a nature positive economy by 2030 🌎 Drive ambitious national implementation of the Global Biodiversity Framework by informing the business chapter of CBD National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs) and sharing learnings across region. With less than 100 days until the UN Biodiversity #COP16, we’ve published a business statement outlining five high-level policy recommendations for governments to accelerate the implementation of the #BiodiversityPlan to drive corporate #Nature action.     Businesses are urging governments to adopt an enabling framework to ensure sustainable resource management. 🌱 Through five high-level policy recommendations and 20 detailed asks, we’re calling for renewed policy ambition to implement the #BiodiversityPlan. One of the recommendations calls on governments to require businesses to transform their production and consumption models, helping reduce negative environmental impacts.     In a recent piece for Reuters, our CEO Eva Zabey highlights the importance of our newly published policy recommendations to help accelerate the action needed on #Nature👇 With less than 100 days left until the UN Biodiversity #COP16 in October, more than 130 businesses and financial institutions with combined revenues of $1.1 trillion are calling on governments to accelerate the implementation of the #BiodiversityPlan and enable decisive corporate action on nature. Company endorsers are urging governments to adopt and enforce nature policies and regulation.     How can governments accelerate the adoption of decisive actions for nature? 🌱 This article from Um Só Planeta highlights our recent business statement, endorsed by more than 130 businesses with combined revenues of US$ 1.1 trillion, urging governments to take urgent measures in favor of the environment. Released 100 days ahead of #COP16, the statement presented five recommendations for environmental policies: 🌎 Ensure that business and financial actors protect nature and restore degraded ecosystems; 🌎 Ensure the use and sustainable management of resources to reduce negative environmental impacts; 🌎 Value and include nature in decision-making and dissemination; 🌎 Align all financial flows for the transition to a positive economy for nature, net zero and equitable; 🌎 Adopt or strengthen ambitious global agreements to address the main challenges of loss of nature. We’re asking governments for the right policies to ensure that business and finance protect nature and restore degraded ecosystems. Businesses cannot address the challenge of nature and biodiversity loss in isolation and voluntary business action is not enough. Ahead of UN Biodiversity #COP16, we’ve launched five high-level policy recommendations and 20 detailed policy asks for governments to transform our economy.
