Our mission is to facilitate and extend the culture that has issued from the Burning Man event into the larger world.

About us

The nonprofit Burning Man Project provides the essential infrastructure of Black Rock City, and works year round to bring Burning Man culture to the world and the 10 Principles to life. But it does not do this alone. Burning Man has given rise to a global network of communities that produce more than 90 official Burning Man events and create a range of initiatives based on the 10 Principles. Burning Man Project connects and empowers this creative ecosystem of builders, makers, doers, and community leaders through grants, education and training initiatives, and art and civic engagement programs like Burners Without Borders and the Fly Ranch Project.

☀️ Happy Solstice! ☀️ Thirty-eight years ago today, on the Summer Solstice, Larry Harvey and friends ignited a tradition by burning a Man on Baker Beach. This event sparked an annual ritual that has evolved into a globally influential cultural movement, now thriving in over 30 countries with the support of the Burning Man Project nonprofit. We extend our gratitude to everyone who contributes to bringing Burning Man to life. Together, let's continue to gather, create audacious things, and share the stories of our spirited adventures as we build the future. #thankslarry

In August 2021, we published our Radical Inclusion, Diversity, & Equity Anti-Racism Pledge. We set some short and long term objectives, and asked: What would it look like for Black Rock City and all of our global communities to be more radically inclusive and diverse? A year and a half later, so much has happened — members of the community have stepped up to build art pieces, create theme camps, write stories and produce videos, and perhaps most importantly, share the best of our culture and bring new faces into the fold in Black Rock City. Check out this report for an update on all things R.I.D.E. #burningman #10principles #thankslarry #burningmanproject
