EE have deployed the first 5G small cells, boosting capacity for small businesses, shops and homes across the UK. Small cells are miniature masts that offer increased performance in busy areas. Due to their small size, they’re easily installed on existing infrastructure like our famous red phone kiosks. In the last year, EE have expanded their 4G estate to various towns and cities including Cardiff, Dundee, Luton, Norwich and Stoke-on-Trent, whilst also improving capacity in summer hotspots like Torbay and Cumbria. The latest deployments now include the first 5G small cells in London as part of a trial taking place in the London Borough of Croydon, giving communities access to the UK’s best network.
