🏙️ Calling all young engineers! Join us TODAY for the launch of our new STEM project, "Build A Skyscraper," in our Nature's Engineers makerspace! You have 30 minutes to design and build your own skyscraper. How tall can you make it? But the real question is: can it survive our earthquake shake table? 🫨🫨🫨 During this workshop, you'll: - Learn about the bedrock that makes NYC's skyline possible - Construct your own skyscraper using various materials - Test its earthquake resistance on our shake table - Refine and improve your design. Did it fall? Strengthen it! Still standing? Make it taller! Bonus: learn about soil layers, explore rocks and geodes from BCM's mineral collection, and challenge yourself to create the tallest, strongest structure. Nature's Engineers is open: - Thursdays: 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm (Amazon Free Hours) - Saturdays & Sundays: 10:30 am – 4:30 pm Entry included with general admission. Started off the week hosting Robert Cordero, CEO of Grand Street Settlement, and his team for a visit Brooklyn Children's Museum. It was great to get re-connected with Bindu Balan, Chief Development and Communications Officer, after we collaborated a few years back. We shared our collective visions for being resources for many communities. Grand Street Settlement and Brooklyn Children's Museum have had a partnership for many years and will have one for many years ahead. Along the tour of BCM's STEM MakerSpace, Nature's Engineers, we stopped by World Brooklyn's Caribbean Travel Agency to catch a photo of the flags of our home - St. Vincent & The Grenadines and Puerto Rico. photos by Winston Williams

Last Thursday was one for the books! We were honored to see our community come together for a joyous night that truly captured the magic of Brooklyn Children's Museum. Together, we raised funds to fuel our mission and support our work and there is still time to give before June 30! These funds are crucial in maintaining BCM as a meaningful place for families and a cultural anchor in Brooklyn. Thank you for your contributions and support! There's still time to support BCM and help offset the dramatic impact that the arts and culture sector suffered as a result of significant cuts over the last 9 months. Visit 👉 www.brooklynkids.org/give to make a contribution to support BCM and the arts and culture at large. This is a BIG year for BCM – on December 16, the world's first children's museum turns 125! 🎉 Mark your calendars and stay tuned for ways you can join the celebration. #brooklynkids #125yearsyoung
