Today, we extend our gratitude to Kalamazoo Anesthesiology Pc (KA) for their generous $25,000 donation to Dr. Mark Atkinson’s Coast to Coast fundraising bike ride in support of Bronson Children’s Hospital. Anesthesiologists perform a critical role for patients at Bronson. When it comes to caring for children, the anesthesiologists from KA expertly address the specific needs of all ages – from tiny babies in the NICU, to toddlers and teens. They are called upon during the most critical cases and during more common pediatric procedures, such as tubes in the ears and tonsil removal. Thank you, KA, for recognizing the importance of having a children’s hospital in southwest Michigan, and for supporting children in our community through your work and this generous gift. Pictured are Rob Keller, chief operating officer, Kalamazoo Anesthesiology; Dr. Vince Pagano, chief executive officer, Kalamazoo Anesthesiology; Dr. Mark Atkinson, anesthesiologist, and coast to coast cyclist; Terry Morrow, president, Bronson Health Foundation; and Heather Oestrike Schripsema, director of donor relations, Bronson Health Foundation. https://lnkd.in/gHuhNX_w

Thank you Lions of Michigan District 11-B2 (southwest Michigan) for raising $12,000 to provide artificial skylights for Bronson’s Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic. The blue skies and puffy clouds will bring great light into the clinic hallways! Holding the big check is Zoey Thackston, a Lions Club leo , who upcycled crayons to create lion and lighthouse molds to sell for this effort. She alone, raised $2,000! Also pictured are Lions Club members and staff of the clinic.

The stuffed animals that fill these boxes are each a gift from the heart to families at Bronson Children’s Hospital. The family of 3 1/2-year-old Eva Martin started the Eva Martin Project after her tragic death last June. In her honor, family, friends, churches and businesses collected nearly 1,000 stuffed animals. Eva’s dad, Rick, painted each of the collection boxes, and kept getting requests for more. “This helps us keep Eva’s name alive, and lets our hearts keep beating for her,” says Eva’s mom, Rebekah. “Seeing the stuffies and knowing how much she loved them - I think about which ones she would love.” Rick adds, “To see the community back us in this endeavor, to bring this many animals and blankets, and to know they’ll be used to comfort families means everything.” (Pictured in the center are Eva Martin's parents, brother, Lucas, and grandmother, each holding stuffed animals. They are joined by members of Bronson Children's Hospital and Bronson Health Foundation staff holding blankets. They are standing in front of 21 large boxes, with the name Eva painted on them.)

Our Bronson NextGen Health Ambassadors spent their second session getting a behind the scenes tour of the downtown Bronson Methodist Hospital campus. From the Cancer Center, to Bronson Children’s Hospital, Neurocritical Care, Bronson Laboratory and more – there was a lot to see, learn and explore. Thanks to the physicians, leaders and staff who provided valuable perspectives at each stop along the way.
