About us

Bring Change to Mind (BC2M) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to encouraging dialogue about mental health, and to raising awareness, understanding, and empathy. Actress & activist Glenn Close co-founded Bring Change to Mind in 2010 after her sister, Jessie Close, was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and her nephew, Calen Pick, with schizoaffective disorder. Every individual who speaks out inspires another. And another. That’s how we’ll end the stigma around mental illness. That’s how we’ll Bring Change to Mind. BC2M's mission is to end the stigma and discrimination surrounding mental illness.

So grateful for community partners! As the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials are wrapping up, I want to give a HUGE shoutout and "Thank you" to some amazing partners! Over the last few months Bring Change to Mind (BC2M) has had the opportunity to engage our high school students in the festivities and help to bring mental health to conversation. Thank you to the Indianapolis Colts Kicking the Stigma, USA Swimming & Indiana Sports Corp for including us and giving our students a space to share their voice and experiences! In April, together, we hosted 150 Central Indiana BC2M Students for Under the Surface, an event bringing light to mental health and the challenges we all face. Whether a professional athlete or a high school student, we all have a mental health and it's important to care for it! From this, each student received two free tickets to opening night for Trials and what an incredible night that was! Something truly amazing to witness and be part of! This week, we were part of the Mental Health Hub within the Toyota Aqua Zone. Connecting with people of all ages and from all over the country, it's so great to see mental health at the forefront of the conversation. Thank you to all involved! And, if you haven't experienced the largest swim meet hosted at Lucas Oil Stadium, highly recommend! #SwimTrials24

Feeling incredibly inspired after an enriching experience at the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) conference in Iceland this week! Bring Change to Mind (BC2M) had the privilege of engaging with our partners from the Global Anti-Stigma Alliance http://antistigma.global/ to discuss crucial strides in addressing the persistent and layered stigmas that surround mental health. We are proud to have showcased our youth mental health program, highlighting its impact in enhancing the wellbeing of young individuals nationwide. Excited for the collaborative opportunities ahead with our esteemed partners. Together, we can continue to break barriers and promote mental wellness for all. #MentalHealthAwareness #GlobalAntiStigmaAlliance

From June 1 to 5, I had the privilege of being an ambassador for Bring Change to Mind (BC2M) at the World Psychiatric Association's 2024 "Together Against Stigma" Conference in Iceland. Along with five fellow student ambassadors, we presented our experiences dealing with and breaking the stigma surrounding mental health within our communities- whether in a cultural, academic, or personal context. We spoke to the student experience in relation to battling mental health obstacles including academic burnout and peer comparison, while also being confronted by the intense stigma surrounding mental health. As students, we tend to internalize and perpetuate this stigma on a subconscious level, hindering our personal growth. We should all aim to take steps towards dismantling the stigma within ourselves and our peers, which was one of the overarching themes of our presentations last week. Huge, huge thank you to Bring Change to Mind (BC2M) for this incredible opportunity!
