For the 34th year in a row, the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) awarded its Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the City of Brea for our Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2023. The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. Time and time again our finance team works hard and diligently. We are very proud of the work done by our team in the Administrative Services Department.

Public Service Recognition Week is celebrated the first week of May since 1985 to honor the people who serve our nation as federal, state, county, local and tribal government employees. Each year, the City of Brea does their best to recognize its employees during this time with an All Star Award. We recognize that every employee is critical to our success. However, there are times when employees perform so exceptionally that they should be rewarded for exceeding Brea’s standards of excellence. That’s where the All Star Award comes in. The recipient of this award is nominated by their peers. This year we recognize Ana Conrique, the Senior Accountant in the Administrative Services Department. Her character, work ethic and kindness to others is unmatched. Congratulations Ana!
