I needed this reminder today as we continue to fight for this industry. People need credit unions - all credit unions! Large complex credit unions that have a huge reach. Small, niche credit unions that serve a few with super specific needs. New credit unions. 100 year old credit unions. All focused on people. All focused on helping each other. As it always does, things are changing. It’s the turning- that generational shift that signals a new era. Yes technology plays a role- but the more technology is available and utilized, the more important it is to connect with people. Credit unions are the perfect marriage of tech and people. For those of you that know me well, you know I am a huge Trekkie. The franchise has continued to evolve and thrive over the last 58 years. How does Star Trek continue to appeal to new audiences? This quote made me think about credit unions, who struggle with serving the needs of multiple generations. How can we embrace the existing membership while attracting new members too? Alex Kurtzman, the producer of the Star Trek TV shows says: “You cannot create new fans to the exclusion of old fans. You must serve your primary fan base first and you must keep them happy. That is one of the most important steps to building new fans.” 🤔

I absolutely ❤️ my Keurig. This makes me happy. Keurig could have decided to do nothing -it is the king of coffee makers after all. But, they didn’t. They listened. They put their heads down. They found a solution. That solution required a completely new design. It would’ve been much easier to ride the cash cow wave into oblivion. They chose a different path. #innovationneversleeps
