About us

Boys Home of Virginia is a residential education facility established to guide school-aged boys from challenging circumstances toward developing their full potential and becoming self-reliant, responsible, and productive men. Our programs address the physical, academic, social, and spiritual needs of our residents. In a privately funded, faith-based, residential setting, we provide a stable environment and education. Our setting of 1,250 scenic acres in the Alleghany Highlands, provides an ideal setting for growing boys to experience the simple gifts that living and playing in the outdoors bring. A note from Farm Manager Linda Angle- We had two new additions to the farm this summer. The farm welcomed two baby goats! The students took a while to decide on the names but came up with Icarus and Iris. They are using Greek and Roman mythology names for the farm animals. The baby goats have already brought so much joy and education to the farm.

Boys Home was excited to partner with WestRock Company, a local paper and packaging manufacturer, for an exciting Earth Day project. The Trees Into Cartons, Cartons Into Trees (TICCIT) program is an educational program that highlights the renewability and sustainability of paper and paperboard packaging. The students were hands-on with planting biodegradable cartons with maple trees for the Boys Home campus. How fun!

Several staff members and students attended Road To The Horse in Lexington, Kentucky. Farm Manager and Equine Instructor, Linda Angle, stated, "Horses have limits just like people. Some horses were easier to gain trust than others. There were so many lessons at the event that can be translated into our everyday lives. Trust, respect, patience, and perseverance are important qualities for interacting with anybody. I hope the students took some lessons back with them to use in the cottage and some they can use throughout their lives."
