Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northern Indiana Corridor

From July 14th - 18th, some of our Club teens had the opportunity to attend the Boys & Girls Clubs of America Summit for America’s Youth in Washington D.C. Hundreds of Club youth, alongside their adult mentors, who are engaged with the Think, Learn, Create Change (TLC) initiative had the opportunity to experience our Nation’s capital, hear from inspirational leaders, explore careers in public service and share their stories with members of Congress while receiving in-depth training and resources. Our Club teens presented on gun violence in South Bend, with reference to our recent Gun Violence Symposium, and how critical recruiting teens for programming like BGC is in keeping youth off the streets. We will continue to make a change in our community and fight gun violence in our area. #GreatFuturesStartHere #BeGreat

During the final weeks of Camp BGC, our club members had the opportunity to learn from more professionals in our community through our career rotations program coming from diverse backgrounds. The Pop Up Pregnancy and Family village, funded through the Health First St. Joseph County (HFSJC) grant, aims to tackle persistent health risks facing women and infants in our county.   This program is designed to be a trusted and convenient "one-stop shop" for mothers and their families, providing access to care, resources, and support addressing various health needs during pregnancy and the postpartum period. The goal is to address physical health, social drivers of health, well-being, and mental health in a single accessible location. The Pop Up Pregnancy & Family Village will foster a positive and energetic atmosphere that builds relationships and social support among community organizations and families. We have big news to share... For 50 years, our Club has been a cornerstone of this community, providing safe spaces, supportive relationships, and impactful programs for thousands of kids and teens. Recently, we have expanded into 4 additional counties; Cass, Fulton, Pulaski, and White. To that end, we are thrilled to announce that we are now the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northern Indiana Corridor. While our name may be new, our mission remains the same: To inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. It’s a wrap for our 5-week Summer Learning Labs! With support from The Mind Trust, certified teachers in our community, and partnerships with our school districts, we were able to provide literacy and math enrichment to over 2,500 kids across 16 sites throughout St. Joseph, Cass, Fulton, White and Pulaski counties. During the afternoons, our kids kept busy with Club programming, visits from partners across our region, went on 125 field trips, hosted 16 career days, and explored the theme of “kindness." This final week, our kids had fun fairs, made slime, played in the water, visited the courthouse for a mock trial, went to the zoo, enjoyed some sweet treats, and so much more! We cannot wait to see our kids back at Club for the 2024-25 academic school year! #GreatSummersStartHere #BeGreat #GreatFutures #summerfun
