Bold Metrics Inc. (BMI) has created a suite of AI technologies that allows brands to accurately predict customer body measurements and relate them to garment specifications. Using our cutting-edge machine learning algorithms, retailers and brands are ditching conventional sizing solutions and leveraging our technology to reduce returns and increase conversions. Ultimately, our goal is to revolutionize the apparel industry by giving brands the power to use this data to unlock body-relative apparel design. Historically, apparel sizes have been generated in the absence of customer-driven body data. This has led to a worldwide apparel waste problem caused by a high rate of returns coupled with a bad consumer experience around fit and sizing, often amplified online. Along with garment sizing optimizations, the downstream experience becomes more customer-driven, leading to a significant reduction in returns and happier customers. Back in 2015, ŌURA introduced its first ring - a relatively clunky (sorry not sorry) wellness ring and app designed to improve sleep and everyday performance… Oura was started by three friends who were frustrated with the accuracy, style, and durability of existing wearable health trackers. They chose a ring due to the unintrusive positioning, and ability to collect biometric data easily from the finger. In 2020, I purchased my first Oura Ring, the second generation, as I began to focus more on my health during the pandemic. Four years later, I couldn’t be more excited to receive the fourth generation. Since my journey with Oura began, I’ve drastically improved areas of my health, I stopped drinking, ran my first marathon, and actively prioritized my sleep. Oura played a key part in helping me measure the impacts of my actions. With their latest release, Oura just raised the standard for wearable tech. Using another wearable will feel like switching from an iPod to a Walkman… and they’re just getting started. After acquiring Veri - this fall Oura will be launching Meals, a new feature that will allow members to track the timing of their meals to understand how their sleep, stress, and recovery are impacted by when they eat. As a lover of late-night sweets, maybe I’ll be convinced to leave the cookies behind… I did my capstone project on body data technology when I was at UO Sports Product Management Master’s Program - and I haven't been this excited about wearable tech ever. This is an absolute game-changer. I love that the impact of body data is becoming increasingly mainstream, and I'm excited by the work Oura and (shameless plug incoming) Bold Metrics Inc. are doing in the space.
