The HealthBridge Foundation engaged Boldly Go Philanthropy to design a fund distribution plan. Last week, Boldly Goers Kyle Peterson, Justin Kong, and Ishan Bista engaged the Foundation's team and Board in an in-person workshop in West Cornwall, CT. During the workshop, Boldly Go facilitated a discussion on different upstream and downstream pathways to create impact within the medical debt landscape, and eligibility criteria frameworks to ensure that the fund would serve only the most underserved populations in the Greater Waterbury community. Thank you Wanda Correa, Francesca Evangelista, and Kathy Taylor for hosting us! Supported by the Connecticut Community Foundation, the HealthBridge Foundation was established in 2019 with the mission to facilitate equitable access to health care services for the Greater Waterbury community. Grounded in the values of equity, inclusion and impact, the foundation aims to distribute funds to cover medical expenses for those unable to pay, to provide scholarships for nurses and others in the medical field, and to expand access to medical care. We are excited to support the HealthBridge Foundation’s medical debt relief fund and we look forward to its outsized impact for the local community! 🚀 Proud to Support Epilepsy Care in Africa 🚀 We are delighted to share that we have been working with the BAND Foundation and the UCB Innovation for Health Equity Fund, to contribute to closing the epilepsy treatment gap in Africa. Epilepsy affects over 50 million people worldwide, with a significant majority residing in low- and middle-income countries. The burden is heavy across several African countries, where stigma, limited access to treatment, and systemic healthcare challenges contribute to a treatment gap exceeding 75% in many regions. 💼 What's Needed: Addressing epilepsy in Africa requires a multifaceted approach focused not only on providing immediate relief to those suffering from epilepsy, but also on establishing a model for integrated epilepsy care that can be scaled and replicated in other regions. Engaging local communities and stakeholders is key to ensuring solutions are culturally sensitive, sustainable, and impactful. 🌟 Join Us: As we continue this journey, we are incredibly proud to support funders in their commitment to advancing global health. This work is a testament to the power of collaboration and innovation in addressing pressing public health challenges. Stay tuned for more updates and insights as we move forward with this initiative! Thanks to Gardiner Lapham and Dr. Michael Fürst for all the support and vision! #EpilepsyCare #GlobalHealth #Africa

Last month, Boldly Goers Kyle Peterson, Fernanda Borges Nogueira, and Lauren Stadler facilitated a full-day workshop for the Cinelli Family Foundation in Kansas City, MO. Thank you to Janet Cinelli and Eric Ryan for hosting us! The Cinelli Family Foundation is a new family foundation dedicated to finding cures for leukemia, breast, and pancreatic cancer and supporting research to accelerate the learning process for teenagers in grades 9 to 12. Boldly Go is helping the Cinelli family define and align on a strategic pathway and in the future, will manage all of the Foundation’s philanthropic activities on behalf of the Cinelli family. At this first workshop, we discussed the family’s values and vision for the Foundation, facilitated a learning session on effective family foundation governance, and discussed the impact the Foundation wants to have in cancer research and education. We are really excited about the impact the Cineli's and their foundation can have in the global fight against cancers, and on the educational development of young minds. Last week, my colleagues Sarah McMillian, Alex Geertz and I facilitated a two-day strategy session for the State of Birth Equity (SOBE) initiative supported by CHAP and Pritzker Family Foundations in Washington, DC. A huge thank you to Population Services International for hosting us! For the past three years, the SOBE team has done tremendous work to advance maternal and child health by supporting state-level philanthropic collaboration and learning exchanges between funders, government partners, and community-based organizations. We celebrated our wins, such as our new partnerships with funders and state government partners in Colorado and Maryland; hosted a happy hour to build connections between our key partners in the DC area; and discussed how to evolve our strategies and approaches to have the greatest impact on families. We can't wait to build upon this momentum! If you are a funder or state government leader that wants to make an impact on maternal and child health in your state, send us a message to discuss how SOBE can support you.
