This pump has an unusual task. It is used in water depths of up to 3,000 m. Suction piles, which can also serve as foundations, are often used to secure drilling platforms or wind turbines on the high seas. The suction piles, which are usually made of steel, have a cylindrical shape and are open on one side. With the open side facing downwards, the suction piles are sucked into the seabed by creating a vacuum. Then they are hermetically sealed. To create this negative pressure, the seawater is pumped out of the suction pile. For this purpose, Börger rotary lobe pumps are used.

Check out this installation of a Boerger ONIXline BL 280 rotary lobe pump at an aluminum single can sheet facility, where it is being used for pumping emulsified oil. The customer was dissatisfied with the previous PD pump manufacturer's maintainability, customer service, and long lead times. The ability to maintain the pump in place and quick access to on-site support and parts were significant factors in their decision to switch to Boerger.
