Last week BNSF Hazmat participated in the Minnesota Chemical Assessment Team training at Camp Ripley. In collaboration with the State Fire Marshal, this annual training is crucial for ensuring the safety of our communities and operational efficiency. 🚂🌾Meet Tim Fanning, BNSF engineering manager and agriculture processing aficionado! 🌾🚂 Fanning’s upbringing on a farm, and later working in the ag processing industry, opened his eyes to railroading. Now working on heavy bridges as an engineer, Fanning stays connected to his childhood agricultural roots by “playing” in creeks – as he calls his work. Today, BNSF announces the launch of its new express carload service from the Pacific Northwest to Denver and Salt Lake City, with speeds comparable to over-the-road options. The new service will enable BNSF customers to ship high-consumption products to key markets, including items like food and beverage, lumber, and other building materials. BNSF recently provided hands-on training to North and South County Fire/EMS in Arlington, Washington, to practice skills to help keep the community safe in case of an emergency. Our Southern Transcon route between Los Angeles and Chicago is our busiest, and we’re constantly working to keep it in tip-top shape. On this line is a bridge in Sibley, Missouri, one of the last single-track sections on the Transcon. BNSF teams recently completed a maintenance project on this segment. In a short window of time, they replaced 23 track panels on the bridge, installed two turnouts (track configurations that enable trains to move from one track to another) and surfaced more than 2,000 feet of track. “It’s so important to make sure our maintenance plan matches the business needs for BNSF,” said Craig Rasmussen, assistant vice president, Engineering Services and Structure. “This short piece of single track is a crucial part of our network, and this project is another example of how our teams keep our railroad safely running.” #freight #logistics #rail #Missouri
