Last year, we hosted a thought-provoking webinar called “Purpose is Dead,” challenging the conventional wisdom around brand purpose, 15 years after the concept emerged in marketing. One myth we explored is that brand purpose “should always be positive and universal.” In today’s polarized world, what's seen as positive by some might not be by others. We predicted that bold brands would start challenging mainstream values linked to the “woke” mindset to surprise consumers, shift the narrative, and stand out in an oversaturated market.
