The B.L.U.E. House is a Survivor Led non-profit organization serving adult human trafficking Survivors and those at risk

About us

The B.L.U.E. House is a Survivor Led non-profit organization in Minneapolis, serving adult survivors of commercial sexual exploitation, as well as those within the community who are more vulnerable to exploitation. We support Survivors within the 7 County Metro area of Minnesota. We have recently gained non-profit status in the state of Minnesota and are currently pursuing our 501c3 tax exempt status with the federal government. The foundation of our programming will be an economic empowerment program that allows Survivors to gain education and hands on training in a craft or trade of their choosing. We plan to offer financial and professional assistance to help Survivors register for their own LLC, with a goal that they are able to legally provide for themselves financially upon completion of the program. We will also offer a drop-in center, as well as programming and services in the areas of mental health, chemical health, life skills, and parenting supports. We are currently offering services in the form of prevention curriculum for 13-18 year olds within the community, as well as providing training related to commercial sexual exploitation to local businesses and organizations. Additionally, we offer a support group for marginalized genders in St. Paul, Minnesota that occurs biweekly and provides emotional and life skills support to Survivors, and those who are at a higher level of risk for exploitation. Please reach out to request any of the above services, which are offered at no cost to community members. We look forward to expanding as we aim for our ultimate goal of purchasing a home in North Minneapolis!

I’ve had several requests to hear more about my trafficking experience. I have decided to host a virtual event where I will be sharing my story, discussing vulnerabilities that increased my risk, and I will briefly discuss my plans for The B.L.U.E. House . I will leave time at the end for 15 minutes of questions and answers. I hope to see you on Wednesday at 7pm CST! Click on the link below to attend. 💙

Edited to add: ***Trigger warning, minor profanity for the sake of accuracy, and stay aware of where you are watching this in the workplace. It’s raw, real, and very vulnerable. Good morning! As we are starting to roll out services through The B.L.U.E. House, one of our focus areas is to provide education around the topic of trafficking and sexual exploitation. Our hope is to increase awareness, and to build strong partnerships within the community. If your organization, company, school, or group has interest in learning more, please reach out! I would love to come and share a bit about my experience as a survivor of sex trafficking, provide some trafficking 101 training, and explain a bit about the ultimate goals of our organization. There is no cost involved, and we can provide this service within Hennepin, Ramsey, and Anoka counties at this time. For more information, or to schedule, please send an email to [email protected] and include the location, and size of the group that would be attending. I look forward to collaborating with you!

On April 22nd of this year, The B.L.U.E. House filed as a non profit in the state of Minnesota. Since that time, we have been working tirelessly to build the framework for the organization. One big piece that we have been working on is our 501c3 application documentation, which is now being reviewed by a law student and will be ready for a final approval tonight at our board meeting! Other accomplishments include assembling a diverse and dedicated Board of Directors, the creation of policy and procedure, and a website that should be completed by the end of the week. In addition, our Executive Director, Nyki McNamee, has been asked to speak at the International Human Trafficking & Social Justice Conference and was recently accepted into the Nasdaq Milestones Circles program for women entrepreneurs! More than anything else, we are grateful for the relationships that have been built with local individuals and organizations. We know that community means everything, and we appreciate the love and support that has been sent our way. We can’t wait to see what the next three months brings, and we are so happy that you are all along for this ride with us. 💙💙💙

Hello! I know that the page has been quiet lately, but we have been very busy in the background and have made some significant progress on getting The B.L.U.E. House closer to our goals! We now have an amazing Board of Directors that has been meeting regularly to help establish our goals and priorities. Our Board of Directors consisits of professionals with vast experience across multiple fields, and The B.L.U.E. House is so grateful for the ways that they have already been able to contribute to the cause. While we do not have a physical location at this time, we will be working to establish outreach efforts in the community while we raise the funds needed to create the drop-in center that we have been dreaming of. We recently created a Venmo account for the business, and are encouraging anyone who is willing to donate to use the QR code in the image below to find us. Every donation, despite the size, gets us closer to our goal of providing comprehensive services to adult survivors of sex trafficking, sexual exploitation, and those at risk within the seven-county metro area of Minnesota. Another exciting update is that we have completed our application for 501c3 status, and once it has been reviewed, it will be ready to submit!

I am so incredibly happy, and humbled, to say that the first official meeting of the Board of Directors for The B.L.U.E. House was held tonight! I was voted in as the Executive Director and feel so incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to lead this organization. As I move forward, I commit to always hearing, seeking out, and amplifying the voices of survivors of sex trafficking and/or sexual exploitation. In addition, I will never forget those who did not survive long enough to see the creation of this organization, and I will always remember the ways that they brought value to my life, and to the world. I will continue to fight so that more survivors do not have to die as the result of something that was done TO them. Thank you to everyone who has supported me through this process, and please know that I feel extremely honored. I can’t wait to see the impact that The B.L.U.E. House will have on the communities it will serve!

The B.L.U.E. House is coming along and I am so proud of the progress that has been made! We have a solid foundation for our Board of Directors, but we are still missing some specific skill sets that could be very helpful for our mission. We are specifically seeking candidates with diverse backgrounds who have experience within the fields of finance, law, and marketing. If you are interested in discussing this opportunity, or know of someone who would be a great fit, please reach out to me at [email protected]!

I shared this over the weekend but wanted to repost since most of us were busy with family and weren’t watching our LinkedIn. I created a fundraiser for The B.L.U.E. House to cover some of the start up costs for the organization. If you would be willing to repost, I would appreciate it so much! Thank you!

Please repost! I created a Go Fund Me to help with start-up costs for The B.L.U.E. House, and I wanted to repost the link as it got a bit buried within the other post. If you’re able to contribute at all, it is very appreciated! Please help me to help sex trafficking and sexual exploitation survivors. 💙 https://gofund.me/c25fe158

Last week came with a lot of internal processing and frustration, as creating a non-profit is not an easy task. I had an emotional night and wanted to share some of the more emotional thoughts and feelings that came up, because this is personal and I can't forget that piece. The video is long, so be warned. It also is a bit scattered, but that's the reality of this world. It isn't something that fits into a pretty box. Recovering from experiencing sex-trafficking is messy and I am not ashamed of the mess that can come up when thinking about how painful it has been to go through it myself, and to remember the beautiful people that I have lost along the way. This video is not directed at anyone specific, so please don't take anything in the video personally. I just needed to get it off of my chest and the community has a right to know. I also started a Go Fund Me, as I have been covering all of the costs associated with starting the organization up until this point. Anything helps and I really truly do appreciate the support that I have received. Here's a link to the fundraising page: https://gofund.me/b3fd446e

This is me (Nyki) being vulnerable. Late night ramblings of a sex-trafficking survivor in the video linked. This video isn't directed at anyone specific, so please don't take my frustration personally. It is just representative of the overall pain felt by those in the survivor community who have historically been ignored because it is uncomfortable to acknowledge that trafficking/exploitation happen within the communities that we live in. I also want to take a moment to thank everyone who has already stepped up to help in the ways that they are able. I am currently working with Mitchell Hamline Law School to get the organization filed as a 501c3 with tax exempt status, but we are not quite there yet. After funding everything for the organization out-of-pocket up until this point, I am reaching out to see if I can get some support with some of the remaining start up costs/fees. Any funds will go toward costs such as 501c3 federal filing fee, Quickbooks monthly subscription fee, website development costs (domain and hosting fees), and initial program supplies. I started a Go Fund Me, which can be found by following this link: https://gofund.me/b3fd446e Thank you to anyone who is willing/able to donate. I am also seeking out volunteers who would be willing to help with the start-up process, as well as connections to funding sources within the community that I may not know about. This is not my organization, it is OUR organization, and I appreciate you partnering with me for the benefit of the survivors who deserve love and support. https://lnkd.in/gfhsHC3v
