BlocPower's Race to Decarbonize is on! Our goal for this initiative is to bring together sustainability leaders to deploy clean technologies that will decarbonize buildings and transportation systems to lead the global race to net zero. City partners will join regular virtual convenings to share guidance, advice, support and resources to implement decarbonization at city-scale. Forbes captured the vision for the Race to Decarbonize shared by CEO Donnel Baird at the World Economic Forum earlier this year. Check it out, then join us by signing up at https://lnkd.in/eMeDYMKJ

A great moment for our Boston Civilian Climate Corps members: The HVAC system had been down for a couple of months at the office of one of our employer partners, and the building was becoming unbearable to work in. Three of our program participants offered to diagnose the system in hopes of restoring air conditioning to the space. They stayed past program hours until they found the defective parts in need of replacement. They continued to stay and support the HVAC technician who was able to fix the system based on our participants' recommendations. This was on Day 1 of on-the-job training. This is just one of the many success stories we've encountered as we support people making meaningful changes in their lives. Here's to many more proud moments as our program continues to make a significant impact in diversifying the green space.

Buildings are like snowflakes. No one is the same, and it will take precise planning through multiple considerations to decarbonize the entire building stock of any one U.S. city. Listen to CEO Donnel Baird as he joins the Director of the Office of Sustainability and Environment for the City of Seattle Jessyn Farrell and Senior Associate Director of Sustainability for the American Hospital Association Kara Hammond Brooks as they discuss the logistics of building electrification at the Bloomberg Green Festival. Thanks to Bloomberg's Lauren Kiel for moderating this crucial conversation around the importance of collaboration, especially when it comes to different types of buildings in different types of geographies with different operational needs.
