The number one contributing factor to the continuous growth and success of the cybersecurity industry has been the community we’ve built over the years, together. Shit happens. When I ran my previous EDR startup Secdo (aka Cortex XDR), it was incredibly hard to convince enterprise customers to displace their old AV’s. It did not matter how useless AV’s were against modern threats, the risk of yet another endpoint product was just too high. But thanks to the collaboration of our community: including CISOs, analysts, practitioners and vendors (especially CrowdStrike), we were able to break old perceptions and protect customers against billions of cyber attacks, together. What happened a few days ago was not the first nor will it be the last time a mistake happens. It is not a CrowdStrike problem. It is not a Microsoft problem. It is not even a cybersecurity problem.
