See below for the latest update from GMHA: Governor Brian Kemp has announced residents in 41 Georgia counties affected by Hurricane Helene are now eligible to apply for disaster assistance. The Public Assistance programs in the Major Disaster Declaration are currently limited to assistance for emergency work and repairing or replacing disaster-damaged facilities. As additional assessments are completed, more counties may be added. Individuals in these designated counties can apply for assistance in any of the following ways: Online at DisasterAssistance.gov Calling 1-800-621-3362 People who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have a speech disability and use a TTY may call 800-462-7585. Ray Paulk, General Manager at Cavco-Fleetwood Homes in Douglas, Georgia, is doing just that. His team works closely with Wiregrass Georgia Technical College, which is committed to preparing students for successful careers in today’s ever-changing workforce. The first graduates of the school’s new Wiregrass Leadership Academy, which is designed to create the next generation of leaders, are Cavco-Fleetwood team members Zach Adams, Alonzo Tovar and Ben Wetthuhn. “We’re big believers in mentorship, education and developing future leaders,” said Ray. “I took three of my up-and-comers who, while fairly new to our company, have a lot of leadership potential. It’s no surprise they graduated with flying colors.” Wiregrass Leadership Academy students tackle challenges that reinforce leadership education and promote professional and personal growth. The academy curriculum is comprised of 7 modules that include 40 hours of instructional leadership training on the following skills: -Supervisor Communication Skills -Managing Teams -Dynamic Decision Making -Resolving Conflict -Time Management -Leading Through Change -Motivating Employees to Be Their Best Cavco-Fleetwood is working with the college and its Director of Workforce Development Nicole West on additional leadership curriculum and an apprenticeship program that will provide paid work experience, related classroom instruction and nationally recognized credentials. While the leadership academy is new, Cavco-Fleetwood’s participation at Wiregrass Georgia Technical College isn’t. Several months ago, Michael Raulerson, one of Fleetwood’s production associates, earned OSHA 10 certifications through the school for forklift operation and plumbing and electrical. Great job, Cavco-Fleetwood Homes, for broadening team members’ leadership skills and building a bench of top-notch professional talent. It’s a perfect example of the ONE Cavco commitment to invest in team members’ development and success, which maximizes the impact for all our stakeholders. And congratulations Zach, Alonzo and Ben!
