Because of your generous support, Blessings in a Backpack continued to provide weekend food for children nationwide — that’s more than 3.3 million hunger-free weekends, to be exact! Our VP of National Food Solutions, Heather, recently attended the School Nutrition Annual Conference in Boston! This three-day event brought together school nutrition program operators, industry partners, and non-profits for an incredible educational and networking experience. #ANC24 At Blessings in a Backpack, we’re committed to providing more than just a hunger-free weekend—we’re dedicated to nourishing our kids with healthy, kid-approved food that they’ll love. Our registered dietitian works tirelessly to curate a menu that’s not only delicious but also packed with nutrients. We're talking whole grains, low sugar, and protein-rich options that will fuel our kids for their busy weekends.

Today, we celebrate the incredible career of Randall Cobb and thank him for his unwavering support of Blessings in a Backpack! Since 2012, Randall has supported children in need through his advocacy, social media shout outs, appearances, and in contributions totaling almost $250,000. “I wanted to implement something in my hometown and we were able to start a program at my elementary school for kids on the free or reduced lunch program,” Cobb said. “They get a backpack full of food on Friday before the weekend to take home. We wanted to make sure they would be eating properly over the weekend.” Randall’s dedication has helped ensure countless kids have food over the weekend. Nothing warms our hearts like a handwritten letter from one of our kids! This simple message says it all! Our food doesn’t just provide kids with the nutrition they need; it means more energy for play, better focus in school, and a brighter smile on Monday morning.

From filling backpacks for Blessings in a Backpack, co-presenting two informative classes, and hosting another thrilling duck race with tons of winners, it was non-stop fun and learning! Grateful and proud to join my Red Robin colleagues at our annual conference where we learned about our achievements, goals, and paid it forward by packing 15,000 bags for Blessings in a Backpack. Blessings in a Backpack Marysville program received a generous donation of 500 bags of food from Cummins Inc., ensuring two weekends’ worth of food for their students this school year.
